A lovely book that illustrates Edith Wharton's life, as well as her interests and skills in house and garden design. I visited The Mount in 2013 and bought the book mainly because of the photographs. It's sad that her circumstances did not allow her to live here for more than a few years.

A well-written and beautifully-illustrated book about the development of Jefferson's plans for the Grounds of what would become the University of Virginia. Included as well is a very interesting essay on the changing meanings and uses of the Lawn since Jefferson's time.
