A great cover can lure me in and the cover for What Hides In The Cupboard by Cassondra Windwalker has that old time, gothic feel and I was prepared to be haunted.

Hesper Dunn suffered a traumatic accident and wanted to get out of the rat race of Chicago. She had been to New Mexico with Richard and fell in love with the desert. It fit with her skill as a ceramic artist, so it made sense that she would want to move there.

For much of the book, I felt disappointed. Where’s the horror? Where’s the terror?

Ya know what….it was right in front of my face the whole time and I never saw it.

I wondered if the creatures that lurked in the shadows and the trapped spirits haunting the house were all in her mind. I wondered if the death of the previous owner caused ghosts to walk the grounds.

Cassondra Windwalker did a superb job of making me wonder why it took me so long to see what was right in front of my eyes. Hindsight is 20/20. My mind was lulled into a sense of complacency, and when the finale came it smacked me right in the face.

So, beware, enter at your own risk.

Wow. This was a gripping, powerful book that draws you into Grenda's world and doesn't let you go until the last page. The imagery is so vivid, it's easy to imagine yourself right in the midst of the scenes, watching them unfold. The world-builing was excellent, and a chilling look at how things may turn out in the future, whether dragons are used for execution or not. I loved Grenda from the start, and fell in love with Allora shortly after we met her. They're both unique, yet all too real for characters in a book. I'm definitely going to need to take a break after reading this one, and recenter myself in the real world. Windwalker truly has the gift of storytelling, and you'll be spellbound by this story from cover to cover.… (mehr)

First and foremost Cassondra Windwalker is an amazing writer! Absolutely amazing! If you have read one of her other books then you understand why. Hold my place is about when love turns into obsession. This was a quick and easy read for me. It says horror but it's not really horror but trust me the creepy factor is all over this book. And the ending I really didn't see that final twist coming! I should have but I really wasn't expecting that! Definitely a great read!

Thank you Black Crow PR and Cassondra Windwalker for sharing this great book with me!

This was a weird book. It is more of a novella than a full novel and the pace was decent.

From the beginning of Edgar and Sigrun's relationship, all I saw was red flags and I found myself frustrated with Sigrun for not seeing them.

The ending was intriguing and not what I expected after the previous scene.

I would read another Cassondra Windwalker book.
