Just different enough from the LRB era that there are so many small nuances to pick up on.
I don't think the playtesting is anywhere close to the previous standard when the rules were open, but I appreciate that a more thorough rewrite was done compared to the 2016 edition.

A decent collection of early GW materiel and WD content - nothing I haven't seen before but a nice thing to have.

Looks great, should be fun to run CSM for a while!

I really enjoyed the Gathering Storm campaign. It is easily one of my favourite 40k events. Lots of drama, some surprises, fluff that makes me want to do new warbands or armies. This was a fine finisher, Guilliman is actually a suprisingly sympathic character and there's a lot that they can do with him later. Isn't it lucky that it was empire-building Guilliman in stasis and not homely Vulkan, nomadic Jagatai, or unsympathetic Ferrus. The hodge-podge of ideas, old fluff upon old fluff layered (like under my warderobe) to create a whole. Fine stuff.

I must say that this is one of my favourite campaign books for 40k. The fluff tells a cracking story. I have never cared for the Eldar but this makes me want to put together and Ynarri force, so that shows how good it is.

I think that three books is the limit for one campaign though, I was tempted by Psychic Awakening until I discovered it was seven books long or something silly like that. I can get behind multiple book releases to drag out an in-universe event, that's ok, it drip-feeds the miniatures and creates a sense of a moving storyline that we participate in (however true or false that might be). Seven is too many though, it drags, the miniature releases aren't as as good, and the whole thing feels a bit much for the casual player!

Dead exciting with lots of action and plenty of new scenarios to play. Gathering Storm is definitely one of the best campaigns of recent years.

I can't compare this to previous editions, and I can't say that I've read it cover to cover. I've certainly read quite a bit of it in detail (and will continue to read it over the following months, as we've just recently started playing.

Incredible background and hobby guides. I read the 6th edition and this is much, MUCH better! Anyone that is interested on the story of the Warhammer Universe will be pleased to read this book, even if you're not into the game itself. As a Sci-Fi fan I'm delighted by the rich story I just read! Kudos to Games Workshop for the fantastic edition!
