Aino Wuolle’s Finnish-English dictionary (Suomalais-Englantilainen Sanakirja/Finnish-English Dictionary) remains the standard, including several thousand words and phrases. The book begins in Finnish in order to better aid travelers in understanding those around them when it abroad, while the latter section contains the English with Finnish translations, for those who want to show respect to their hosts by speaking in the native language. This 1953 edition from Werner Söderström Osakeyhtiö is somewhat out-of-date, especially as, according to WorldCat, there have been 159 editions since 1940 and 2007. That said, the basic translation remains the same and this 1953 edition looks nice on any bookcase.… (mehr)
