My Reading Style:
I really enjoy fantasy with a bit of romance thrown in every now and again. Up until Harry Potter I had never read a fantasy novel, and wasn't even that big of a reader. (I had always resented the books they made us read in high school.) And now, ever since I realized there was this whole genre full of books ready to take me to all different worlds I’m enjoying getting “lost.” I love all the daydreaming that reading opens up to you. For someone whose mind never turns off, it makes for much more pleasant down time. ^_^

I don’t just read adult fantasy. I find both teen and young adult books enchanting and often times enjoy them more then some of the adult novels I have read. There’s something special about books not written for adults. The best way of describing it sometimes is that they are more simple and sometimes a bit more innocent. I hate when an author tries to create some great, amazing, world coming to an end, lost and emotional/physically downtrodden but now found hero, epic fantasy; oh and we can't forget the token romance part, and fails for the trying. I also hate books with treachery as a main theme, and books that are overall depressing/sad and I cut down on that when I read the younger stuff.

I love books that make me cheer out loud, laugh, and squirm, or stamp my foot in anger while reading. I REALLY get into my books, and take them personally. My old roommates used to say it was fun to listen to me read. lol.

Though I’ve finally read enough that I’m now picky and may not finish a series that I’ve started if it isn’t to my liking, I’m always looking for new books and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. (Even if my yet to be read list is ever growing, lol.)
Über mich
In general I’m outgoing and a bit out there. I love being goofy, and acting a bit insane with whoever is willing to join me. I love laughing and making people laugh; I have a bit of a mischievous streak and a quirky sense of humor.

Obviously I like to read if I’m here, but I also enjoy watching movies, even the ones I’ve already seen 10 times; especially if I get to watch my friends reaction to my favorite parts. I enjoy going out and doing random stuff – like going out for Chinese food in the middle of a snowstorm, just because. Or taking advantage of a random ice storm by ice-skating on the parking lot at 2 am. My favorite is kidnapping friends and taking them out to dinner.

I got my degree in physics. I had a blast doing it and I am now trying to put that degree to good use. Though multiple people have told me that I’m not a typical physics person. Should I find that insulting? I mean I am a physics person. I love physics, and miss it, but then seeing as how I work in a bookstore, and train horses, and don’t talk about physics at the dinner table, maybe they do have a point . . . oh well. Lol. :-P

And lastly I love quotes, but only when they mean something to me . . .

“I do not have a psychiatrist and I do not want one, for the simple reason that if he listened to me long enough, he might become disturbed.” - James Thurber

“Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.” – Jane Wagner

Note: My user name comes from Jim Butcher's third book in his Codex Alera Series, Cursor's Fury.
