I'm a fiction reader. I rarely pick up anything else. My favorite books are from my childhood library, passed on to me from my mother, fought over bitterly (not really) with my sisters. Many are thrift store finds, not always in the best condition. I have quite a few library discards, "hand me downs" from my kids' teachers, and many from CBOMC. I guess you can say it's not a "serious" collection, but more of a sentimental one.

"Picture Books" make up a large portion of my library, so it's no surprise that I also have a number of comics & graphic novels. I only follow a few titles, "Elfquest" by Richard & Wendy Pini most loyally. I REALLY enjoy adaptations of classics like "the Hobbit" & "Alice in Wonderland".

I do have a small collection of adult fiction, as well, but I find I am less "attached" to these and tend not to hold onto them over time. Lately I've been swapping with family & friends, or using the library, for my adult fiction.

I started collecting children's books at 18. Growing up in a family of 5 kids we didn't get a lot of toys, but there were ALWAYS books around. My mother instilled in us a love of reading very early on. My 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Duncan, fostered my love of fiction & fantasy. As a young adult I was finally able to collect MY OWN books, that I didn't have to share with my brothers & sisters. As a young mother, my collection grew as I introduced my own children to the wonderful world of children's literature.

My collection isn't large (it's been pared down out of necessity/lack of space) & I have very few 1st editions. It isn't particularly noteworthy in any way other than that I read & collect what I love.
