My library on this here lovely site is mainly comprised of what I've been reading after finishing my degree. Not having the time to read books of my own choice became maddening in the end. As you can see I’ve posted a lot of recently published novels, so there’s quite a contemporary bent to my reading.

I've also chosen some of my favourite novels to stick on there. Some of them I discovered via my course, others I’ve just happily stumbled onto throughout my life.

My name is Amy & I'm a very recent graduate from Manchester University, where I, appropiately, studied English & American Literature. I lived in Manchester for three years, but am now back in my hometown of Stoke-on-Trent. Only for a year mind, as I'm thinking of doing an MA - possibly in London (I've always wanted to live there for a bit & studying seems a perfect excuse).

I've always loved reading, but I read a LOT more since Uni. I now tend to read a book a week, roughly.

Rather predictably, I also love film & music.
Film-wise, I tend to watch a lot of British, US & Australian cinema, which I'm quite embarrassed about so I'm going to extend my experience of foreign language film outside of famous French ones! Some my favourite films include Singin' in the Rain, The Royal Tenenbaums, Frida, Almost Famous, Ice Cold in Alex, When Harry Met Sally, Some Like It Hot, The Philadelphia Story, A Matter of Life and Death, Edward Scissorhands. I'm quite partial to Tim Burton (the dirty secret Goth part of me I suppose!).

Music-wise, my all time favourites are probably The Clash, the Manics, Le Tigre, Hole, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie & The Smiths. 'Tho that little list changes quite a lot!
At the moment, I'm listening mostly to The Long Blondes, Jenny Lewis, The Grates, The Donnas, Lily Allen, Flaming Lips, The Go! Team, Ladytron & The Pipettes.
