Bellatrix's original collection of books has grown over the years into a sizable library containing 5,000+ books, movies, manga, comic books, magazines, and other nerdy relics and resources. These items are available for all MHC students to check out, whether they’re members of Bellatrix or not.

College... The final frontier. These are the voyages of the student org Bellatrix. Our ongoing mission: to provide a forum for all who wish to participate in the discussion of science fiction, fantasy, anime, comics, and similar media; to promote the exploration of such subjects and examine them from within a feminist framework; to provide a safe space for fans of all kinds to enjoy what they love; to support, maintain, and expand a library of speculative fiction; and to boldly go where no org has gone before!

Bellatrix is Mount Holyoke’s Science Fiction, Fantasy, Anime, Manga, and Comic Book Club--only referred to as such occasionally, as that is too much to say very often.

Bellatrix was founded by a group of friends who shared a box of fantasy and sci-fi books, and exists as a means for Mount Holyoke’s community to connect with one another over the media they love. The club was created to be the keeper of this collection, and is now known as the second oldest consistently active student-run organization on campus. We have even inspired the creation of Renegades and Autosave, respectively the tabletop gaming organization and the video gaming organization.
