I respect literary fiction, but my taste more often runs to science fiction and mysteries. My wife and I read a lot with our young daughters, so I'm always on the lookout for good children's books -- especially picture books that explore natural habitats and human cultures. Über meine BibliothekTracking reading on LibraryThing has given me a sharp sense of how few books I'll actually manage to read in my lifetime compared to the many excellent and enjoyable books that are published each year. It's deepened my appreciation of the gems I encounter, while reinforcing my skepticism of lists of 'must reads'. I read LibraryThing book reviews, and am grateful for readers who take time to share their reactions to books. The different discussion groups on LT have different atmospheres, so for example the 75 Books Challenge (http://www.librarything.com/groups/75booksin2013) is very chatty, Le Salon (http://www.librarything.com/groups/thequestforthelastpa) is erudite and opinionated, and the group I use, Club Read (http://www.librarything.com/groups/clubread2013) is somewhere in between.
I have quite a lot of threads which I follow, because I share reading tastes with the people who write them, find their reviews interesting, and so on. It can be quite a nice community. I asked because if you did have one I would certainly follow your reading!

Truth be told, five of the 23 are Early Reviewer books, and five -- mostly SF -- are reviews I put together from discussions I have had with people about books in another forum I frequent. As for the rest, several relate to tennis, about which I am passionate; several stem from opposing reactions to the comments of others; two relate to my interest in the decipherment of ancient texts; and a couple are books I just happen to like a whole lot! In general, I like to review books I love, so others can enjoy them as well, but I am not one of those people who is revved up to review extensively or promiscuously -- I'd rather be reading!
