This is a list of books I read to my girls when they were ages 3 to 11 that I wanted to remember in order to get for my future grandchildren. They were all library books as the bookstores didn't have such a wide range of books. I primarily looked for multicultural folktales/stories and historical fiction to supplement my childrens' library which is filled with Beverley Cleary, Judy Blume, Roald Dahl, etc. These picture books were read numerous times in the morning, afternoon, and night!!!!

As a serious book lover I didn't realize the extra treat I would get having daughters that I just HAD to read to. Reading them stories expanded my world and I got the joy of seeing them blossom into readers.
