A great book with beautiful illustrations that children will enjoy. It was first published in 1941. I enjoyed the fabulous illustrations due to how distinct they are. This book has won a Caldecott medal for its illustrations. 80 years after it was first published, it is still widely popular. ( )

Make Way for Ducklings is a children’s book about a family of mallards that settle down in Boston. Written by Robert McCloskey, it won the Caldecott Medal award.

This is a classic children’s story, but I’ve got to mention that I’d never read it before now. As an adult I found it sweet and amusing so I can only imagine how kids might love this story. Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are looking for a place to build a nest and raise their ducklings. They find that place on an island in the Charles River where Mrs. Mallard lays eight eggs. I found the names for the ducklings hilarious, Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack and Quack. A policeman named Michael at the park is friendly with the mallards and helps Mrs. Mallard get the ducklings to the Public Garden. And everyone lives happily ever after.

This is a big picture book and the sepia drawings illustrate the story well. They are dated however with the antique cars and the way people dressed, and I think that kids playing with iPads and video games, some will probably find this story too slow and boring. But it’s still a charming story for any child that loves animals and reading. I understand that Boston actually has a statue commemorating this book in the park. I found this a cute, fast read with great illustrations. A perfect children’s book that even entertained me. I give Make Way for Ducklings, 4 Stars

This beloved classic takes Mrs. Duck from the nest where she's nurtured her ducklings through various sites in Boston to the pond where the ducks will swim and find food. This is such a popular book in Boston that now there is a sculpture in Boston Commons of the Duck family on their way. ( )

The Boston classic featuring an anthropomorphized duck family that takes up residence in the Charles and, later, the Public Garden. Charming encounters with various humans including a police officer. ( )

Mrs. Mallard was sure that the pond in the Boston Public Gardens would be a perfect place for her and her eight ducklings to live. The problem was how to get them there through the busy streets of Boston. But with a little help from the Boston police, Mrs. Mallard and Jack, Kack, Lack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack arive safely at their new home. This brilliantly illustrated, amusingly observed tale of Mallards on the move has won the hearts of generations of readers. Awarded the Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children in 1941, it has since become a favorite of millions. This classic tale of the famous Mallard ducks of Boston is available for the first time in a full-sized paperback edition.

Looking for ducks in the park in the spring is tradition for many families of young children. This family of ducks is looking for just the right place for their ducklings to hatch. Mother duck is quite particular. Through their adventure in the city, they find just the right spot and a few special people to help keep them safe. ( )

A complete and utter classic of kids' literature; and it can't even be limited to kids! A touching and charming story about a mother duck just trying to get her little ducklings across busy Boston, the dangers they face, and the kindhearted people that do their best to help. Helped along by cute brown-sketch illustrations and a straightforward writing style that doesn't talk down to kids. I had my family read it to me over and over. ( )

This book is about two ducks who are going to have ducklings and they are trying to find a safe place for them to hatch. They find a place, but they need to cross. They end up having trouble to cross because of the traffic so they are finding ways to get over. After everything, they get help. This shows students that they should also be helpful no matter who or what it is. It is a great book. I rate this 4 out of 5 because it shows courage. ( )

Make Way for Ducklings is a sweet story of urban Boston mallards trying to find a home to make their own and to eventually raise their ducklings. It is a simple lesson of family and the bonds between family, and the underlying need to keep your family safe and comfortable. This book would be a great book to read aloud to children, and they will easily be able to follow the story line. This book is also a Caldecott honor recipient. The illustrations seem to be charcoal or pencil drawings and are beautifully shaded to illustrate the voyage of the Mallard family. ( )

Mrs. and Mr. Duck find a place to raise their ducklings, they take good care of them until one day Mr. Duck gets the dumb idea that everyone should go to the public gardens. Mrs. Duck walks them over there and they miraculously escape being run over on the way. ( )

This is a super cute book with not much literary value. The book is longer than you would expect and it spends a lot of time on a short story. I think the kids would get kinda bored of this book like I did. ( )

Two ducks decide to raise their ducklings in Boston. The mama duck and the babies walk through the city from the river to the public gardens. The traffic is stopped for them to cross, and they live happily in the lake eating peanuts from boaters.

In the story, Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are two ducks looking for a place to lay their eggs. They are extremely picky with their new home and they want one that is safe and perfect for them to raise a family. Mrs. Mallard's eight babies are born and are named Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack. They find their new home at a public garden in Boston. However, the family cannot get across because of traffic. An officer helps them cross the street and they live happily ever after. ( )
