MAY Exploding BOMBS Progress Report

We are progressing phenomenally! We are ahead of schedule by 40 books!
WAY TO GO EVERYONE! Check the numbers that I have entered for your total through the end of April and let me know if there are any errors that need to be changed.
Also please don't adjust the group tickers for a few days while I balance everything for April. Placing your personal tickers over on this thread helped me speed through the totals at the end of the month, so if you have a ticker please, put a copy of it here. Once everyone has confirmed their totals, we can start pumping that ticker again for May!

amz310783 reach her goal in April and ramblinivy had already reached her goal and is going to continue to help us toward the group goal. What a great example for the rest of us! Just remember each book moves all of us forward so get the tickers moving!
The tickers (password BOMBS) are set so everyone can add their goals and books completed.

Here are the standings at the end of April:
Together we've read 1,186 just over 1.5% above the average of books for 12 months to reach our goal!!! We can really do this if we stick to this pace the rest of the year! One Quarter - 3 to go! At the end of the second Quarter, if anyone has not moved the ticker at all, they will be moved to a snail ticker, so get going, read those BOMBS!

April was the second straight bad reading month for me, as I finished 4 books off my shelf. Only. Sigh.

Hoping May will be better.

I haven't been doing too well, but I did knock out one more book in April: Time and Again by Jack Finney. That brings my grand total up to 3, out of 20. The darn Kindle has been too tempting, and I've been buying too many e-books.

27/60 oldies read as at the end of April. Not quite as many as I was hoping for, due to an attack of re-reading and the purchase of a new e-reader, but I'm still comfortably ahead of my target for the moment.

I love looking at all the different tickers and seeing that some are very close to their goals.... amz310783 and connie53 could even reach theirs this month!

While others (myself included) need to keep moving along the path to the finish line. I've been reading some great books along the way, how about you?

46 It was pretty good, Cheli. I find I don't read a lot of cozies anymore (though I'm currently reading another one) but this one was fine. I liked the characters, the White House details were interesting, and the mystery was decent, too. Hyzy kept the "how can she do something that foolish?" aggravation factor, so common among cozies, to a minimum -- mostly early in the book, and then the adventuresome consequences followed naturally.

Oops, sorry Caramellunacy! I guess the directions were on an earlier thread. You've experienced the ticker program, as I see you made a ticker. The tickers on the very first post on this thread are the group tickers. Just click on the first ticker. The password is BOMBS, then hit the edit data button. You can add the number of books in your goal to the "target savings" number; then, as you finish books toward your goal, add 1 to the "current cumulative savings" (books done) number and hit save. The second ticker in the post is a percentage ticker. Some people don't do that one; I'm not sure why, as the numbers to be fed in should be the same, the output is just different, indicated as the percentage done toward the total goal. And if we mess up, Cheli (cyderry, who stared this year's challenge) goes over our tickers and threads monthly and adjusts the group ticker to make sure all books are accounted for in the group totals.

So if that description was fuzzy, don't worry about it too much.

Oh, and I finished another book, The Killer's Cousin, and am updating the ticker now.

Although I've been reading consistently, today I finished the first book off my shelf in quite a while.

My new total is 8 toward my goal of 25, and I have updated the tickers.

Another one bites the dust! Tickers updated. It was a good and very different read, The Tiger's Wife.

This morning I finished Domestic Violets. I almost didn't read it as I as a little put off by the first couple of pages which were all about the narrator's struggle with erectile dysfunction, but once I got past that, it was great. I'm so glad I didn't give up :)

I was finally able to detonate a bomb. Fantastic book though, far from a bomb. Midnight Tides by Steven Erickson.

Okay, I've finally got a goal: 25 for 2012 . . . not much, but it's almost June and I've only read 2 TBR books so far . . .

Another one for the month of May and probably my last. Nothing like finishing the month on a high note . Beloved by Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison is a powerful and profound novel. I will update tickers.

Finished another one today, The Borgia Betrayal. Good historical novel. Probably will not finish another one in May, but one never knows!

I will start the process for closing May in the next few days.
Tomorrow I'll be busy at celebrations, so probably Wednesday.

Well I managed to read 8 BOMBS this month which really surprises me - I thought there were more new and shiney ones. I have updated the tickers. I might finish one more but can always hold it till next month's totals if I do.

Seven BOMBS neutralized this month (yay! best month yet!), bringing my total to 27. My personal ticker is up-to-date; I have not touched the group tickers.

I've detonated eight bombs during May, Cheli. It's "only" the 30th, but that'll probably be it for me this month. I haven't touched the ticker for a few months now.

I read 10 in May and am now at 46 in total.

Sorry, I have a completely irrational hatred of tickers and since I usually read each day, I try to wait until the end of the month for my total. But, I am ploughing through a library book right now so it will probably take me to the end of the month (11/22/63 is huge!)

I didn't update the ticker.

I met my goal of 2 again this month. Updated tickers (mine is in message 14).

I just realized that for some reason I never got around to posting my ticker in this month's thread. So here it is, already updated with this month's meager two books. (Group ticker updated as well.)

I added the 7 books I read this month to the Group Ticker. My YTD total of bombs detonated is 44. I won't be adding any more for May.

I am now up to 15 BOMBS, as of May 30. I didn't add to the main tickers.

I surprised myself and polished off another book this month, making 6. A much better effort and almost back on track to achieve target. I have updated the group and my own ticker.

I'm going to include the one I'm reading right now because I'm pretty sure of getting it finished before midnight. If that doesn't happen I'll still count it as a May, rather than June, book. So after a shaky start with far too many new books coming into the house, that makes it 8 BOMBs for this month, bringing the grand total to 32/50. It's usually around the halfway point that things start going wrong for me (silly ideas like 'I'm half way there so I can slack off a bit now') but I'm ignoring that little voice at the moment. Both tickers updated.

Although I read a few books off my shelves, I added Mode than I read to it and according to my rules I am at -1 BOMBS currently.
I did not add it to the tickers, because I don't know how Cheli will handle it.

But only counting the BOMBS I already finished 14 of 25! That's quite good for me.

I've read 7 books off my shelves this month and expect to finish another by tonight, giving me 38 so far for the year. A nice total but well short of the 125 I was aiming for.

Oh well, I've drastically cut my book buying this year so I'm definitely freeing up some space.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, I thought that the ticker read 1506 or 15 something last night after I updated also.

I am the one guilty of removing books.
I have the total for everyone and when I add them up then I correct the total. Cross tally in the ticker - I've added books and then someone updates for what they think isn't in there.

No, usually it's only at the end of the month. I usually ask everyone to avoid the tickers the last few days of the month until all the numbers are verified. But my totals will eventually rule - ah power!

I finished 2 in May bringing me up to 8. I have not changed the group ticker.
