Hi Linda, when I saw 2 posts I thought I would jump right in here and say hi! I'm playing catch up with everybody's threads as hubby has been home sick for 4 days and I am teetering on the brink myself, but as always LT is my joy and greatest pleasure. It's funny how many of us are trying not to buy any more books this year, at least for awhile. I guess last year was a big book buying year for most of us. Good Luck with your books off the shelf endeavor. I'll probably have a thread here myself. If I buy anymore books we'll need a new house...for us.

I simply am overwhelmed with all the books falling out of closets, stacked on shelves and hidden under the bed in plastic containers. Like any addiction, it is a day at a time to Not buy any more.

One month with no buying is a record for me.

I hope you and hubby feel better soon Mary Beth.

Hello Linda. Have missed our little chats.
Nice to see how successful you are here. I have to admit that I have purchased a couple of books this year but have removed from my shelves those that I don't think I will read again, those that I don't 'love' & 'must' keep, collections that are no longer important to me, etc. I am keeping my classics and favorite authors, Virago & Persephone books. But I am hoping to get 200 out of here this year. As my husband says: 'Looks like our house is wallpapered with bookcases stuffed to the gills!' hee hee
Happy New Year Missy.
blessings,

Belva, How wonderful to hear from you. I'll look for your thread in the 2013 75 challenge group. The group is so large that it is difficult to keep up. I'm sorry I missed your thread.

I am doing ROOT this year Linda, and hope to read every book that I read this year from mine own shelves. Hope all is well with you and yours. By the way, ROOT is keeping it very simple, which is lovely. I do confess to having quite a load of books that I acquired around the end of 2012. So, I'll be adding those but not purchasing any more........I won't!

Linda, I joined ROOT as well. I think between ROOT and Books Off the Shelf I should be able to get quite a few out of here this year.
I am still purchasing Virago and Persephone books but trying to use the library for my Orange reads now and with ROOT, I will be reading books that have been on my shelves for years. Yea!~!
Cheers!
