Review of the wrong book

I came across a case of this today ( https://www.librarything.com/work/849/reviews/76212545 ), and despite a search I couldn't find any previous discussion of it in this group.

Is a review that is clearly a review, and clearly not a review of the work it's actually on, flaggable? (It shouldn't be necessary to point this out, but yes, I checked for combination issues.) To me it seems obviously flaggable, but I know that some people here have very different standards than I do for blue flags, and in fact the review in question currently has both a blue flag and a thumbs-up, suggesting that someone vehemently disagrees (and either doesn't know about green flags or disagrees so strongly that they'll thumb up an irrelevant review just to get a dig in at the blue flagger.) Am I so off base in thinking "Not a review" should reasonably imply "Not a review of this book"?

I wonder if this was an error of some sort on the part of the reviewer, and if a polite comment would help.

As to your initial question, I would like to see a "not a review of this book" flag, or a clear statement from Tim that "not a review" includes "not a review of this book.

Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to flag reviews anyway. There may be other discussion elsewhere, but I do know the bug report thread is http://www.librarything.com/topic/147559. The apparent loss of this feature (or at very least, the lack of response), of course, makes reviews even more useless, in my opinion. When trying to sort reviews on a work by votes, since flagging is gone, the spam and "not a review" reviews can't be sorted to the bottom of the heap.

I flagged a review like that a short while ago. For someone who wants to read a review of the book, the fact that it is a review of something does not make it more useful.

It seems obvious to me too, but the literal-minded sorts who have defended "9.95" as a review on the grounds that it could be a rating rather than a price will probably claim that this is a review and therefore I'm a horrible person for flagging it - I just want to get a feeling for how widespread that viewpoint is before I flag it.

It's a very weird entry, as it says it is a manual entry, but tags and review are for a very different work.

I flagged this review as "not a review" but what's really the case is that it seems to be referring to some other book by Philip Wylie (who did write dystopian novels):

Generation of vipers, however, isn't a dystopian novel or fiction at all. Is it wrong to blue-flag in such cases? Is there somewhere an "not applicable to this book" flagging option I missed?
