I think I have close to 200 unread books in my shelf (embarrassing - i know). I have decided to limit my book buying this year to 300 sek/month and in stead read the ones I already have. As a part of this challenge I have a Big Fat Book Challenge 2014 - that is to read 20 of the big fat ones on my shelf. Please join!

No 1! First one done! Döda poeter skriver inte kriminalromaner is a sort of amusing crime novel set among writers, poets and editors. Not one of my favorites. Björn Larsson has written much better ones.

Listening to The Pickwick Papers. I´ve had a paper edition on my shelf at least 20 years but never read it. I think listening to it will be a good idea. It will take me 18 hours...

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Hope you enjoy listening to "The Pickwick Papers".

I´ve just finished The Pickwick Papers. I must admit that I hurried along a little because mr Dickens uses so many words and sometimes it just gets too much and a bit boring. I also shifted between listening to the audio-book and reading. This is definitely not my favorite Dickens-novel. If I remember correctly this was his first. I´m glad I read it though and there are some memorable characters.
So, that makes no 2!

No 3 sounds like an interesting one. Well done, you've made good progress so far this year. Have you decided what to tackle next?

Well as a part also of my Big Fat Books challenge this year I´m reading (and listening to) The worst Journey in the World. A fantastic book written by one of the youngest members of the expedition to Antarctic with Captain Scott.

No 4! The Goldfinch was a bit of a disappointment. I liked it the first 400 pages but then I started to wait for it to be so fantastic as everyone said. But it didn´t happen. I have given it three stars because I did like it, just not so much as i had expected.

No 5. Antarktis by Josefin Holmström is a short novel written in short pieces about an expedition to Antarctic. Among the members of the expedition is one man you understand has had some kind of relation to the narrator. The narrator feels a strong connection to Captain Scott and he and the story of his and his comrades expedition with the Terra Nova is constantly a part of the story. I loved it! Gavi it five stars!

I'm just starting The Goldfinch - I'm a bit worried now :) I'll see how I go!

Glad you enjoyed your Antarktis book - it sounds interesting. I'm curious about The Goldfinch as I've seen it mentioned on lots of different threads here, but Mount TBR is to big at the moment to be added to by any new titles (so unless it turns up in audio at the library - lol - it won't get a look in for a while)

And boy is it a big doorstep of a book to add to Mount TBR ;) I'm very glad I've got the Kindle version - I think my wrists would get very sore trying to hold up the hardback!

No 7 - The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I did like but I´m not sure I´m going to read the sequel.

En rasande eld sounds really good, judging by the review on the book page -- will have to add it to my bokus list. (I'm always looking for new-to-me Swedish authors, so will keep an eye on your thread.)

Which book by Björn Larsson would you recommend? Oddly, his page on LT seems to list most of his books in Italian.
