Have you read any Val McDermid books before?
What do you hope for from this book?

I have read the first 3 Tony Hill/Carol Jordan series:
#1 The Mermaids Singing (1995) - 4 stars
#2 The Wire In The Blood (1997) - 5 stars
#3 The Last Temptation (2002) - 4 stars

The Skeleton Road - 4 stars - must have ROO'd here - lol
Northanger Abbey - 3 stars

I am hoping for a new series with great characters and intriguing storylines.

Have read all of her Tony Hill and Carol Jordan Series, which is one of my favourite all time series. Book 2, Wire in the Blood, is one of my favourite all time books - Jacko Vance in that book is one of my favourite characters. Love the way they are usually written from the perspective of the killer and the profiler (Tony). Just noticed there is a new one out in December. Yey!

>3 EadieB: Like Eadie I have also read Skeleton Road, book 3 in this series. Read in March 2015 and gave it 3.5 stars, this is my review:
'First book by Val McDermid that I've been disappointed in. Might be the subject matter that put me off and is quite cozish for one of her books. Still would give it 3.5 stars but certainly not the effect that one of her books usually has on me.'

Just to let you all know, I'm giving this one a miss - I cannot abide McDermid's writing.
Hope you all enjoy the book, see you next time, :D

I've also read all the Tony Hill and the Carol Jordan series and somehow I think I've also read this one at some time. I'll have to check through the lists of the many, many , many books that have spent time wit me.

>5 Sergeirocks: There is a boat to be manned and a galley to be stocked. Come on aboard and start the bacon:) Pop in once in a while...it won't be the same without you but I totally understand not liking an author.

I'm joining you guys tomorrow when I get back from my trip to Tucson. I've never read anything by this offer but I'm looking forward to it.

Will catch up today

>10 bhabeck: You could have broken in and retrieved it. The police would have had mercy on you when you told them it was for your book discussion with your friends. If not they would have given you a nice quiet cell so you would have uninterrupted reading time.

LOL - that almost sounds good!

Unfortunately, if I'd wanted to retrieve the book from the office over the weekend, that would have been 120 miles of driving but probably about 4 hours due to traffic since it is Southern California.
