Please ensure you take in the VMI Museum at New Market as well as the "Field of Lost Shoes."

The Museum in on the agenda and I'm sure we'll see the field of lost shoes too.

Finished Bloody Autumn; The Shenandoah Campaign of 1864 by Daniel Davis. Part of the Emerging Civil War series, it gives a brief overview of Third Winchester, Fisher's Hill, Tom's Brook and Cedar Creek. Also includes driving tours of each of the battles.

>6 Billhere: I read that book last year and thought it was very good, though I'm far from an expert on the subject matter.

Although it's summer now, I'll just continue this thread since both books I just finished cover the Shenandoah Valley campaigns. These were Decoying the Yanks, one of the Civil War Time Life series, this one written by Champ Clark. In addition I finished Shenandoah 1862; Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign by Peter Cozzens.

Haven't posted here for some time, the Library of America Series that stars with The Civil War: the First Year is amazing.
