I fell in love with a little danger noodle so I start reading up. Honestly, despite the Dr. in front of the author's name I felt this book was rather thin. More research needed.

2. Geckos A Complete Owner's Manual- Richard Bartlett 1/14/18

This was a much more informative book (even though it's not about noodles). If I felt up to adding a lizard friend to my home I'd feel pretty good about leaning on this book.

3. Hey! Modern Art & Pop Culture, No. 1 Season 2 - Anne De Hey! 1/15/18

I finally read an issue of Hey magazine and it is what I hoped! All red meat and no fat! Lots of diverse and engaging artists and their works from pop surrealism, lowbrow and outsider art. Reading the digital magazine was kinda a pain, but I think the quality was enough to justify ponying up for their collected hardbound editions.

4. Pax - Sara Pennypacker 2/8/18

Beautifully written YA novel about a boy separated from his best friend, a fox he raised from a kit. It is heartfelt without falling into sentimentalism or maudlin writing. This is definitely a YA novel that works beyond its target audience.

Another of my art magazines. It feels silly reviewing each volume. The ones I get are pretty solid.

6. Figures in the Fourth Dimension - Ellen S. Rixford 2/19/18

An excellent and exhaustive look at the art, and more importantly, the mechanics of automata and various types of puppets.

7. English Grammar for Students of Russian - Edwina J. Cruise 3/16/18

A solid and informative look at grammar for English-speaking students of Russian. Foreign grammar is always illuminating for your own language and as well as the studied language. I'll hold onto this for now.

8. Graphite 5 - 3dtotal Publishing 3/20/18

Again, these are magazines are solid so I don't want to review every issue. Graphite magazine in particular is manufactured like a softcover book. It's always a keeper and worth tracking down for it's fantastic windows in to various artists' processes and beautiful art.

More beautiful art and insightful artist features.

10. The Art of Keeping Snakes - Philippe de Vosjoli 3/30/18

This is a slim but nuanced look at more advanced and creative ways of keeping snakes. It makes a hard case for what enclosures now known as bioactive enclosures were a small but active ecosystem is creative. He provides specific information for different environment type and recommendations of plants for each. It seemed a bit much for my little sand boa since his favorite thing is to be buried. But if I get another breed I'd like to try it.
