Was it wise or foolish of Monk to take Jessie with him?

I thought it was wise to take Jessie with him. Best to travel in pairs in order to help one another.

He should take someone with him. It would be foolish to go alone.

He had to make a snap decision and he couldn't leave him to be a crab hors d'oeuvres.

It's wise since Jessie can help watch his back...however, I think Jessie is a plant and is going to double-cross Monk after he learns what he knows

Wise to have someone who could speak the lingo - but I'd be wary of Jessie: not every nurse would be able to slit someone's throat, even in self-defence...

ps Maybe Jessie was able to kill the pirate due to his martial art training? (I'd still be wary of him, however - especially as Lisa and the ship's owner are certain that there was inside help to take the ship.)
