Any thoughts on the three figures that emerged from the dark forest and approached Marco Polo and his compatriots?

They apparently had the same bio luminescence as what Susan has. But I don’t know What it was that they had Polo and his group drink

Maybe they had found an antidote and was sharing it with Polo's group.

I thought they were three infected individuals for whom the infection had run its course.
