Sold out within 30 minutes both signed and unsigned copies. Glad I was able to purchase a signed copy, as soon as I received email from centipede. Wow, that was incredibly fast to sell

>1 horrorbooks: Yup... you definitely have to be on your toes these days for Centipede, especially if you want to catch one of the signed copies.
3NathanOv
>1 horrorbooks: I don’t know if I would’ve gone for this one, since only a few Centipede titles tend to catch my attention, but jeez I didn’t even know this was coming and then it was gone by the time I opened the newsletter!
4horrorbooks
>3 NathanOv: I’m really glad I got it. It’s creepy and scary. I collect horror books and glad to have this nice treatment to one of my favorite scary books. It will look nice next to my keeper of the children signed centipede edition
6trentsteel
Wasn't familiar with this title. Maynard house looks interesting and the man who fell to earth. Those 2 are my next purchases likely
7horrorbooks
>5 Shadekeep: it was gone very fast. Even faster than signed Dune, which my all time favorite from Centipede
8Shadekeep
>7 horrorbooks: I'm disappointed but not significantly so. I'm going to be very put out if I miss Powers of Darkness however.

This has been going on for a number of years now. Anything CP releases is sold out within minutes. Never understood why Jerad doesn't do pre-orders or anything like that, oh well. Makes the books more collectible, but I have no interest in paying 3-4 or more times the cost on the second-hand market.
10SolerSystem
>6 trentsteel: I’m really looking forward to The Man Who Fell to Earth. Hope we get Mockingbird and Tevis’ short fiction at some point too.
11horrorbooks
>8 Shadekeep: I’m wondering how much powers of darkness will be, well approximately
12horrorbooks
>10 SolerSystem: I think I will get “power of darkness”and then stop buying books for the rest of this year, not to upset my wife lol
13horrorbooks
>10 SolerSystem: not really familiar with the man who fell on earth title
14Shadekeep
>11 horrorbooks: I'm guessing premium pricing on PoD, perhaps in the $300-$500 range. Possibly more, given the signatures. It'll sell out in short order regardless of price, I suspect.
15horrorbooks
>14 Shadekeep: if it’s more than $200 I will pass
16whytewolf1
>15 horrorbooks: I would bet real money that it will be more than $200. Sorry...
>14 Shadekeep: I'd have to agree on both counts
>14 Shadekeep: I'd have to agree on both counts

>16 whytewolf1: well, maybe my wife will be okay if I spend little bit more on it. Tough one though
18Shadekeep
Haven't seen a copy of this pop up for resale yet, so perhaps this one sold largely to people who actually wanted it. Pretty to think so, at least.
19horrorbooks
>18 Shadekeep: The reason you did not see it for sale on ebay, abebooks etc is because centipede did not ship it yet. Just wait and you will see some copies on a secondary market, definitely not at $65, which was original price for signed edition
20Shadekeep
>19 horrorbooks: Ah, a good point! I forgot to calculate in distribution. I suspect you are correct that there will be price mark-up copies listed soon after.
21horrorbooks
>20 Shadekeep: I know that I will not see my signed BWB for a long time since it takes a long time for it to get to Geneva, Switzerland.
22punkzip
Recent CP books that have sold out quickly, e.g. Grabinski, have not gone for much of a premium. Even the 100 limitation letterpress Children of the Kingdom which was only sold to subscribers did not sell for that that much of a premium given the limitation.
23Shadekeep
>22 punkzip: The Grabiński volume is still available unsigned, and that was the format I purchased it when I got the email. The signed copies did sell out very quickly however, and it does seem the signed CPs are the ones more desirable in the after-market. I guess we'll see what Burn Witch Burn goes for when it lands, since that had completely sold out by the time I got the email.
24horrorbooks
>22 punkzip: yes, it really depends on the book. Books like Something wicked this way comes, Dune, Fallen angel, the monk etc sell for a lot of money. Same with mine suntup numbered editions like the war of the worlds sell for pretty reasonable price on ebay, but exorcist sells for almost 2k. Signed dune by centipede on a secondary market sells from 3 to 5k and more, and several signed copies sold in minutes for $2500 from Subterranean press site.

>22 punkzip: If I can find the time to learn how to post pictures :), I was hoping to share Children of the Kingdom here, given it being Centipede's first letterpress edition. And Vladimir Zimakov's illustrations are amazing (as always). I just love his work.
26punkzip
>25 eanson: I've never posted pics here as I don't want to take the time to figure out how to do it :).
27eanson
>26 punkzip: Ha! Sailing in the same boat it seems.
28horrorbooks
>25 eanson: just go to post images site and select from your library then copy it and paste a link in here. Very easy. Sounds like a really nice edition
29punkzip
>23 Shadekeep: Yes I was referring to the signed copies, which have not sold for much of a premium on secondary.
30eanson
>28 horrorbooks: Thanks! I'll give it a go when I can! It is a really beautiful, oversized production. Zimakov's work sets an incredible tone for the edition.
31horrorbooks
>30 eanson: Please post it asap lol. Really want to see your book and illustrations
32What_What
>22 punkzip: One sold for under $1,100 and a second for $1,500. I’d say that’s pretty good for $700 book. Of course, because of eBay’s fees, what the buyer pays and what the seller pockets are two divergent numbers.
>24 horrorbooks: Some Suntup books sell on eBay for quite a lot more than on Facebook. It’s quite odd.

The Burn, Witch, Burn! reprint is up now. Being offered for just $50 for this week only. At that price I went ahead and snagged a copy.

>34 Shadekeep: creepy story and illustrations. Great price. Congrats
36astropi
>34 Shadekeep: Thanks for the heads-up! Do you know if this edition is the same as the previous edition sans the signature page?
37Shadekeep
>36 astropi: I believe it is. The description appears to be the same, though if anyone who bought the first run can point out differences that would be appreciated. But Jerad stated in the email that this run will be numbered 301-600, so it should be pretty much a continuation of the first run with little or no changes. It does include a facsimile signature of Virgil Finlay, too.
38astropi
>37 Shadekeep: Thanks. The original (first 300) had four signatures (one facsimile). Once you receive your copy please let me know if they're also included.
39Shadekeep
>38 astropi: Happy to help. This bit from the email might provide further info, though it's not completely explicit about the signatures.
Our reprint of Burn, Witch, Burn! by A. Merritt is now available. Three hundred more copies have been printed, and they also have a signature page in the back, going from 301 to 600. Future Merritt titles will have 600 copies as this author proves to be remarkably popular, and we have this item bargain priced as well.
Also, since it seems the press is going to do more of his work, I hope The Moon Pool is in the line-up.

>38 astropi: I wrote to Jerad about both the signature page and The Moon Pool, here's his reply:
The signature page is different -- it has a continuation of numbers but only a Virgil Finlay facsimile signature.
The Moon Pool -- eventually, but not right away.
Hope this helps!

>40 Shadekeep: Thanks, and yes, The Moon Pool will be lovely :)

>41 astropi: Received my copy already (#492). It's in shrink-wrap still but I can open it up if you or anyone else has questions about the reprint.
43astropi
>42 Shadekeep: If you're going to open it, I would love to see a pic of the colophon - thanks :)

>43 astropi: Sure thing, here's the signature page. Let me know if you actually wanted a different one, such as the one with the copyright info.

>44 Shadekeep: it may interest folks here to know that James Maliszewski (the introducer) is the author of the excellent blog about old school D&D, Grognardia. He has a wonderful collection of posts ("pulp fiction library") musing about various pulp fiction classics:
