Hello and my new hobby

Hello to everyone! I'm female, married, knocking on the door of the big 6-0, blessed to still be working full time. I'm slowly adding my books to LT, hope to see just how many I have, see where I might want to weed out some. One thing I will never weed out is my old Scholastic paperbacks and other childhood faves. Anybody else remember those books or have some on your shelf here? Do say! Have a great day!

Enjoy. I was a prolific reader of Enid Blyton as a child. I must have read over 100 of her books and tried to remember which ones. I knew that i had read most of the secret seven and Famous five so i catalogued most of them. However none of the Noddy books. Also none of my Biggles or Billy Bunter nor Just Williams. As regarding Agatha Christie I have catalogued a few, Its a good idea to try remember what books you read just before you fall asleep, better than counting sheep,

>1 MMC22378: I have the problem of getting more books. I have a thrift store near me and also my library always has books they discard that one can take for a donation. I recently got The Dancing Floor by Barbara Michaels from the library. I am reading Elizabeth Peters books I have who is Barbara Mertz and writes under Barbara Michaels and Elizabeth Peters.
I see we like similar books.
Happy future Birthday.

Likewise I probably read pretty much all the Enid Blyton books (including the series like Malory Towers which my sisters had) and all the Biggles books when I was young. I have recently enjoyed rereading some of the Biggles stories, and have reread Swallows and Amazons more than once. Now that I think of it, I might try rereading one or two of Blyton's Famous Five or Secret Seven stories. All very dated and middle class, but nonetheless they bring back good childhood memories, with lashings of ginger ale.

I've also enjoyed some of the adult parodies of Blyton's genre, for example in Viz comic, or the TV comedy "Five Go Mad in Dorset" which can be found on YouTube.

Thanks for your suggestions! Will take a look at bookscans.
Glad to see another "Golden Age Gothic" fan here too.

>1 MMC22378: I loved Scholastic books! However, came from a very poor family and was never able to order. BUT, my teacher seemed to order every single book for her personal library so I got to read them multiple times anyway. When I see a Scholastic book today, I usually pick it up!
