Importing MARC records

Our library is looking to move from Koha to LibraryThing. I am curious as to other people's experience moving MARC records into this system? How smooth is the process? What is the accuracy? Is there limit on how many records can be imported at once?

I believe the answer to your questions are, respectively, "Argh," "very good," and "theoretically none."

The number of complaints about imports is very high, usually because the process stalls. Sometimes it stalls of itself, but often it is due to malformed data. You should probably go to the "Bug Collectors" forum and read the threads with "Import" in the title; that will give you a better idea than I can (since I don't use the feature).

Your best bet is to start off with a small import and see how it goes.

I've been looking for an example or two of what the "Marc Import" expects, but so far found none. So it would be nice if you provide an example when you succeed in importing something.
