Hi All! After some consultation, we have decided to disband the separate "List of the Month" group, and incorporate it back into Talk About LibraryThing. This was where it originally began, before branching off on its own, and we hope that a return will lead to higher rates of participation, which we found to be tapering off in the separate group.
The project will still function much as it did, with different themes or topics selected each month for a site-wide list, but we hope that moving the discussion to this larger group will prompt greater discussion and input.
All of the threads from the separate group have been relocated to this one, and should be searchable shortly.
Our February list will be devoted to our Favorite Animal Non-Fiction. Each participant may vote on ten titles. Please only downvote titles if they do not fit the theme, and are either not about animals, or not non-fiction.

How do we contest inappropriate thumbs down?

Yeah, I got one too. I'm getting cranky in my "Reason" info.

>2 susanbooks: >3 paradoxosalpha: Members were asked to only thumb down if the books in question were not nonfiction, or were not about animals. If there is some dispute as to either of these questions, both sides can give their rationale in the comments.

Yeah, that's what I did. It's especially irritating to me that the down-thumber admitted not to have read the book, just some catalog info. What do they even care, in that event? Just pissing on other people trying to share.
My defending comment doesn't really ameliorate the uninformed indictment of the list item, since it's been pushed onto the third page of the list. I imagine >2 susanbooks: feels likewise.

I’d like to comment on >3 paradoxosalpha:’s inaccurate downthumb, but I can’t bc it’s not in my list. And commenting doesn’t undo inaccurate thumbs down.
