Voters in Georgia approved three constitutional amendments today, including one that would limit the ability of government to seize land for pubic use.

At my first job out of college (as a proofreader), we kept a list of humorous typos. This is a very frequent one, and nearly always very funny.

I love it! I got flagged for abuse for repeating a national newspaper's typo of the word public. :D

I don't believe my full erotica excerpt ever got flagged though, and it was much more wordy than "pubic." That's funnier than the poor proof-reading.

Perhaps the flag was not about the typo, but the implied criticism of Georgians! :-)

LOL! artisan, that is too funny! Georgians bring it on themselves - I've lived here since I was 4, just 20 minutes from a town named Cumming that had a sign on GA-400 that said "don't let the sun set on your black ass" that wasn't removed until the early 2000's.

We're/they're not all stupid hicks, but some stereotypes are rooted in truth. ;)

a favourite typo of mine is the confusion Of martial and marital. It continues to astound me how many people have a black belt in marital arts. My wife tried to teach me But I could not even master the washing up.

:-D My dad fails his marital arts testings on purpose. He says that if he does an awful job on "accident" and looks inept and clumsy, mom won't ask him to do it any longer.

However, his daughter is a black belt in martial arts and marital arts. Way to go, Dad!

In the course of teaching law, I often refer in lectures to a 'causal relationship' between event A and event B. I can't tell you how often students' essays refer to the 'casual relationship' between events! "Huh, did they have a one night stand?"
