The Oxford History of English Lexicography

I'm posting this on two groups knowing that an answer is unlikely but thinking that I need at least to try.

Oxford University Press recently sent me a flyer on The Oxford History of English Lexicography edited by A.P. Cowie. It looks fascinating, and I would really like to have the set. But...They're offering it at a 15% discount for $295. I can preorder it from BN.COM for $236 and, with a coupon, maybe get it down to around $200. That still is a lot of money for two books.

Does anybody know more about this set than what is given in the flyer (a table of contents, list of contributors, and some description) and at BN.COM ( http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Oxford-History-of-English-Lexicography-Edit... )?

Robert

P.S. I'm posting only here. It appears that there's no way to post in the Dictionaries group.

This book doesn't come out until October 31, 2008, and I didn't see any reviews on Amazon ($295 no discount). In Worldcat, only the British Library and the Library of Congress list it. I was going to suggest that you seek out a library and see if its worth the price, but obviously that won't work.

I recently found the set used for forty on Am*zon, in great condition. not every essay interests me but there is more than enough to geek out on, I won’t be reading it straight through but as the strikes.
