I know LT already has a feature to show the most popular books by title and author, but those lists represent the most common titles or authors, whereas the purpose of this group is to create lists of our favorites. Hopefully, the LT programming wizards will later find a way to mine the data and compile a single list for each category.

Some of these may more properly belong in the fantasy section, but I don't read enough sci-fi/fantasy to make two lists. In no particular order...

1. Philip Jose Farmer
2. Robert Heinlein
3. William Gibson
4. Roger Zelazny
5. Frank Herbert
6. Larry Niven
7. Ray Bradbury
8. Stephen R. Donaldson
9. Orson Scott Card
10. J.R.R. Tolkien

Greg Bear (early stuff)
Neal Asher
Iain M Banks
Greg Egan
Dan Simmons
Richard Morgan
William Gibson
David Brin
Frank Herbert (if he counts as SF)
Julian May (Pliocene, Intervention universe series)

Clifford Simak (heads the
list by a mile!)
Ray Bradbury (second by
a half-mile)
Robert Heinlein
H. G. Wells
Carl Sagan
Issac Asimov
John D. MacDonald
Larry Niven
Dean Koontz (some of his
certainly qualify)

can't think of any more to make number 10, but i'm just a novice in this sci-fi and fantasy thingie.
