Due to circumstances beyond the control of mortal woman the start date of The Blind Assassin has been put back to Monday 9th March 2008.

V_B will be posting the Group Read page before then.

Thank you for the update! Actually, this works out better for me because I am a bit swamped trying to finish For Whom the Bell Tolls for my CNY Book Club next Wednesday and Darwin's Ghost, which I have already put on hiatus.

Thanks for letting us know. I was at a book sale downtown today and spotted the Blind Assassin for $1--I know I said I was going to pass on this one, but figured this was a sign, so consider me in.

Sorry, I have to pass on this one...too many other reading commitments..and i've read the book twice, already..i'll try to lurk 'round the fringes but can't participate

I'm the mortal woman who delayed the start date due to (good) news.

Thanks for being so understanding.

jdthloue, I will miss you! :(

I am in on this one as I have been wanting to read it! I am glad that you had good news!! I just ordered the book with super-saver shipping, so who knows when it will arrive. Soon, I hope.

I've decided not to join this time. I'm not too sure I would like the book and have so many unread books left on my shelves, that I pass. Hope you all enjoy the book!

I don't know if I will be able to join this time. I just saw this today and I do have a lot of books out from the library already. I will see if I can get it quickly from the library. If I can, I will join in. If not, I will lurk around and plan to read it in the near future.

On second thought, I am in. I checked the reading schedule and it looks completely doable for me and also looks like I will be able to get my other reading in as well. I just have to order the book from the library so I may be a bit behind in starting but will do my best to catch up. Happy Reading!

Thanks, vintage_books! I got a call today that a book I reserved had come in but I am not sure if it is this one. I certainly hope so - I am looking forward to reading it.

I'm in! I've never read anything by Atwood, so it will be nice to have company. It fits into my "1001 Books to Read Before you Die" category for the 999 challenge, too. Perfect!

>14 TheTortoise: Ohoh, do I have to hide? ;) Sorry, I'm lacking a large amount of free time and free shelves for not yet bought books. (And in the end I feel sorry not to have read this book and will read it next year...)

Hope to join again with the next book!

I recently read the Blind Assassin, so I won't be reading along with you. I will watch the conversations & might even join in (especially towards the end so I don't give any spoilers). It's a great book & Margaret Atwood is an amazing writer.

Enjoy!

Yikes! My book still has not shipped! I don't think I like this supersaver shipping -- although the price is right. :) I hope that the book gets here soon. I will probably have to join in the conversations late, though. (But I am still in!)

I got my copy at the library the other day. As soon as I finish the short story collection that I am currently reading, I will start. I should be able to begin today or tomorrow - can't wait!

Hi, I do own this book but have never read it. I'll only be watching this group this time as I peer over the edge of the book I am currently reading and gaze at a couple more beside me which I need to start soon. Sounds like a good group none the less.

The Blind Assassin just is not calling to me, so I will sit this one out. I will be lurking though, and hope to join in on the next read. :)
