TT announced in another thread that our next read would be a Separate Country. I just received my copy in the mail, so I'm ready whenever everyone else is.

I should get mine soon, I guess! I'm looking forward to this one.

I have a review copy of this and need a reason to get to it, so I'm in!

I just got it from the library and I can't keep it long because of the reserves. I'm starting it this week!

I'm confused....have we actually started reading yet?

Not as far as I know, but Echo clocks in at just over 800 pages. I'm not going anywhere in a hurry.

Do we have any general timeline set? Even just a starting date? I don't want to start something long right before this read starts...

Patience, my children. V-B has only recently had her baby! Give her a chance to enjoy it! I am also busy writing my latest opus and launching my illustrious writing career. :)

If you are dying for date then how about Jan 4th 2010? Read something else meanwhile. A Separate Country will still be there!

Okay, guess I won't be joining you all then. Definitely need to get it read before January.

The library will only let me have it for two weeks. Maybe I'll revisit it with you come January.

If you read it early, you can stilll participate in the discussion. Just be careful about spoilers.

Hey Everyone...looks like a group read that never happened. (Also I never got my prize copy, so I wouldn't have been able to read it anyway.) But what about a group read of Mrs. Dalloway? Say in May?

ETA: Jude put up a new thread here http://www.librarything.com/topic/83892 for discussions of new titles.

Whoa.....I have had my "prize" copy of A Separate Country for quite a while...but it's been doing the rounds here in my neck of the woods...the hussy!!

Regarding that New Thread..unless there's another JUDE here..i don't recall putting up that one...i think it might have been Belva..

I don't do GROUP READS any longer, anyway.....Because once i commit to do one, something always happens on the home front..that keeps me from participating the way i'd like to...so i have declared a moratorium..across the boards

I too have had my 'prize copy' sitting on the shelf waiting for this. Mrs. Dalloway does nothing for me, so I'll just go and read Separate Country by myself. I'm not looking to moderate a group read of separate country but I'm happy to read along if like me, anyone else has been waiting for everyone else to get into gear.

and Richard please stop whining, or go get some cheese.

A Separate Country by Robert Hicks turned out to be a terrific hit on my list of reads. I enjoyed this one. I liked the way it was written; in the first person chapters by different characters. I like the way he built the characters. I came to like at least something about all the characters; yes, even the despicable ones. Another one I didn't want to see end. Thanx for another great read.

So.....................what is up on the reader-board next?

Our senior center reading group is doing this right now--will discuss 1st week in June. I too am enjoying it immensely.

Has the book coming up after A Separate Country been chosen yet? Anybody know?

#24 -Actually, the better question would be - is the Highly Rated Book Group still functioning as a group? If so, who is responsible for making those decisions and notifying the rest of us. I know V-B had her baby, so she may not be available to be the sheperdess anymore. TT also seems to be quite busy, so I'm not sure this train is pulling out of the station anytime soon.
