Am in the middle of it now. He has begun where he left off in volume II. Excellent, excellent read so far.
2ArmchairWarrior
The Hundred Years War is a fascinating conflict. How does it compare to Alfred Burne's Military History? Right now, I am reading The Templars by Piers Paul Read. An interesting story about power, money and religion.
3Poleaxe
Burne's two volume set on the HYW is EXCELLENT as well. I'm hard pressed to chose the better of the two (Sumption v Burne). Anne Curry has some pretty good stuff out there as well. The Templars is very good, but for my money John Robinson's Dungeon Fire and Sword is the most informative and entertaining piece on the Templars.
4Macbeth
I have to get my hands on this book soon. I loved the earlier two volumes.
Poleaxe. For another good take on the Templars you should try The Templars: History and Myth from Solomon's Temple to the Freemasons by Michael Haag. He takes great pleasure in knocking over some the conspiracy theories and a particularly special joy in smashing the DaVinci Code stuff. There is a final section that reviews Templar Fiction (books, movies etc)
Cheers

5Macbeth
A couple of other HYW books that I enjoyed were A Distant Mirror by Barbara W. Tuchman and Conquest: The English Kingdom of France by Juliet Barker

I do have Henry V and the Battle that Made England by Barker. She's pretty good.
7DinadansFriend
Ian Mortimer has a good book out called "1415 Henry V's Year of Glory", and one about his ancestor Edmund Mortimer, "The Greatest Traitor, : the life of Sir Roger Mortimer" both seem to be well researched and quite interesting.
8Poleaxe
I have that book DinanansFriend. It is a good read. Did not know that Edmund's ancestor what "that" Mortimer haha!
9jcbrunner
Mortimer seems to spend about 10 percent of 1415 on reminding everybody of the Mortimer claim. Like many Richard III fans, he ignores that power and rule is not based on right or fairness. As the philosopher Cersei said "power is power" and dying in battle ends kingships or in the case of Mortimer, there have to be some followers to create a leader.
