Gale or Peeta?

Gale or Peeta? Who would you choose?

Peeta definitely he is just so much nicer and a better guy besides Gale is more of a brother to Kat not like Peeta. Plus Peeta would do anything for her even more than Gale would.

Not to start a whole argument, but I go for Gale. He has basically been there from the start,and they obviously both know how to get along. And remember the last chapter from Catching Fire? When Katniss says that Gale is the only person in the world that could not reject, block out or ignore?
And anyway, when Gale tels her that he got her sister and mother out,he doesn'y say anything about his own family, I believe. I hope not, but if he has just basically *sacrificed* his own family to save Katniss's, it conveys a strong point across: Gale cares for Katniss. Genuinely.

I'm completely torn. I can't put up an argument for either of them because then it would seem like I'm going for one rather than the other. But I find that while I'm reading the books I'm rooting for Peeta. But then again, that could just be because you get to see him more than Gale. In the end, I'm undecided.

I choose Peeta. As Babbe2 stated, Gale is more like a brother to Katniss and Peeta would give his life for her. I can't remember exactly, I might be thinking of something else, but I think somewhere in one of the books Katniss even states that Gale would not give his life to save her but Peeta would.

I agree with Raevyn87. Peeta loves her, but she only sorta loves him... also, Gale she likes, but it isn't love. So I think she will start loving one or the other.

I think I would choose Peeta because he's such a good guy and he's so devoted to her. I think Katniss will see Gale as more of a hero than Peeta, but I'm not sure how that will affect her feelings toward them. I'm torn!

I would definitely say Peeta. Not only is he my favorite character, but I think he is good for Katniss.He is completely devoted to her and is willing to do anything for her, as we saw in both books. It will break my heart if she starts falling in love for Gale, because Peeta and Katniss deserve each other after all they have been through.

Unrelated comment, but how weird are there names?? Katniss, Peeta, and Gale?? How did she think of these names!?

I'd go for Gale, because I'm still not thoroughly convinced the Peeta is all he's cracked up to be. I feel like he's hiding something very sinister, whether he knows it or not. I actually don't think he knows it. Gale is simple, straightforward, and comfortable. Nothing wrong with that when your world's falling apart.

Peeta- (pita) bread. Because he is the baker's son.

Madge - Badge? Badge being a slang for a policeman. Madge's father is the upper force/higher class type.

Cinna - Cinema, or theater. Cinna seems very dramatic and charismatic.

Effie Trinket - A trinket is something useless, and Effie just sounds cool.

Prim - Short for primrose, yes, but also meaning proper. Ever heard the phrase "prim and perfect"?

Glimmer - The sound fit her personality well. I think that instead of a meaning, the name simply meant to degrade the Capitol lapdog districts. Katniss comments that the names they give kids in the rich districts are ridiculous.

Gale: a strong wind

Katniss...cat...as strong as a cat? has sharp senses like a cat?
Also doesn't Gale call her Katnip: catnip: A hairy aromatic perennial herb (Nepeta cataria) in the mint family, native to Eurasia and containing an aromatic oil to which cats are.

And also, Peeta says he fell in love with Katniss because of her voice. Huh? I really don't think that's good grounds in which to fall in love with someone, but that's just me. I feel like you can get used to someone's voice, and then the love is *poof* gone. And he loves her because of her voice. That is a genitic thing she got from her father. Peeta fell in love with he because of her voice, not because of the kind of person she is. Gale, however, loves Katniss, and not because of her voice.

I think they both love her. I don't know which one she will fall for though. What do you think?

Gale is also sort of more of a realist than Peeta. He's down-to-earth, knows what has to be done. While Peeta proclaiming his love for Katniss, making her feel akward.

But its funny, how in the first book, Katniss says that when Galeand her go hunting he yells about the Capitol and all? And in the second on, they Katniss and Peeta are at that party, dancing, and Peeta says 'not-nice' things about the Capitol?

First I'll address what you said, then I'll launch into my usual argument lol.
People have different ways of showing and expressing their feelings. I'm like Gale--I'll like somebody for years, but I have such difficulty expressing my emotions in any other way besides writing and music that I'll just never tell them. I'm way too shy to do something like write them a poem or song, therefore what I have to say to them just goes unsaid. I can tell by his personality that Gale probably didn't know how to properly express his feelings for Katniss. They were there, but she was his best friend, and let's face it--sometimes it's harder to fall for a friend than a stranger because it is SO easy to ruin a friendship if it turns out the other person doesn't like you back. You can scare them off. If you like a friend and they don't like you back, they might think you only want to hang around with them because you think they're cute or whatever.
Also, when Gale and Katniss were friends all those years before The Hunger Games, they had other stuff to be worried about than dating each other. Gale had his priorities straight--the survival of his best friend, mother, and younger siblings came before a crush on a friend. I don't think there's anything wrong with that because back then, that's probably what it was--just a crush. Only when he realized he might lose Katniss did he really find that it was more than just a simple crush. Besides, did they really have time for dating? They were so busy with other stuff that Gale probably figured Katniss didn't really have time for things like that.
Peeta is obviously not shy at all. But I think he said a lot of what he did because he felt he and Katniss didn't have much time together. I think he could have approached her before, but he didn't. He gave her the bread, and that was it. Just because they ran in different circles, that's no excuse for him not approaching her prior to The Hunger Games. In my opinion, both boys had bad timing, but I can understand Gale's more than Peeta's because Gale was so busy with his family. Peeta lived a very sheltered life before The Hunger Games.
Gale is just so much better for her than Peeta. I don't care if Peeta can comfort her--Gale can protect her, and she needs that. Peeta gave her bread, but Gale taught her how to hunt. Her father instilled those things in her, and Gale helped her perfect her skills. Without that, she never would have won the Hunger Games. Have you ever heard the saying "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"? Peeta did the former. Gale did the latter. Which do you think would help her more in the long run?
I don't think Peeta is cut out to be her boyfriend, only because he seems so...I don't know, I guess the word I'm looking for is calm. He seems like someone who wants to settle down, start a family, and then probably bake a whole lot of bread. Katniss is such a free spirit. She can't be tied down. I think Gale is the same way. Katniss is unselfish, and that's what I like about her. Hopefully she knows enough to let Peeta go, because I predict he's only going to get hurt if they get together. You saw what happened when she had the whole thing with Haymitch going on in the 74th Games. Peeta got beyond angry. I don't think Katniss is ever going to stop keeping secrets from people. Gale knows her well, but I think she's still kind of a mystery to Peeta. He's a nice guy, and he deserves someone who will make him happy, but Katniss is NEVER going to stop taking care of her sister and her mother. That's what her life is. To her, it's not about a boyfriend. It's about the survival of her family, and I think Gale would be prepared to take a back seat to Prim and Mrs. Everdeen when needed. Katniss has worked her whole life. She needs someone who will take care of her, and I think Gale can do it.
So yeah.

I'm better at writing stories. I've been told that my poems are too long before.

I would say Gale. He has been there from the very beginning and has been Katniss' best friend for a while. Even though she and Peeta went through a lot together, I still say Gale. Just thinking about the upcoming book it would be terrible if she chose Peeta over Gale and then Gale just sort of drifts away from Katniss and out of the main part of the story.
