Not a book for the average reader; this book is a very highly detailed account of the titular military formation. It shifts back and forth between the different divisions that made up the Corps. (There's a great deal of "the reader will remember," picking up where we last saw a unit.) The book is surprisingly sympathetic to the soldiers of the unit, even though this particular unit was responsible for Malmedy and Oradur-sur-Glane. That doesn't leave a good taste in the mouth. I'm not sure I can recommend this book. ( )
