Cute illustrations, simple text, fun little flaps to flip. My one-year-old enjoyed it. ( )

SUMMARY
This is about how the pilgrims came to America and the native Americas helped them. The native Americas taught them how to plant and grow food. They work together and at the end had a thanksgiving feast to celebrate.

PERSONAL REACTION
I enjoyed the illustrations. It went great with the story. It showed how people can learn from other people.

CLASSROOM EXTENSION
1: this could be used during Thanksgiving to teach children about sharing and helping each other.
2. Teach a lesson over each group of people like the piling rams and native Americans

I think this is a really good children's book. I really enjoyed the illustrations. They are very cartoon-like and animated, which made them very enjoyable to look at. They also supplement the information, for instance, the boat in the photo has the name Mayflower written on it, which is not said in the book. I also really liked the writing style of the author. Although the writing was very short and simple, I think it is good for the age level because it still gets the information across. For example, the author writes, "..to fish, to sow and plow," which is extremely simple, but still shows that the Indians taught them to fish and to sow and plow. The main message of this book is to be thankful for your blessings. ( )

This is a book for young reader’s toddlers thru early preschool. Tells how the pilgrims came to America and how the Native Americans helped them. It shows how the Native Americans taught the pilgrims how to plant and grow their own food. It shows that they joined together and had a Thanksgiving Feast.
Personal Reaction:
This was a fun lift the flap book that was bright, with good illustrations. It was a good book for young children. Interactive
Extension Ideas:
1. Talk about what our families do for Thanksgiving during circle/group time.
2. Children can make their own pilgrim and Native American headgear. ( )
