This is a very good book for the Christian who is beginning to share their faith with others, and a good refresher and toolbox for any Christian who is sharing their faith, which should be every Christian. The fact is, every evangelistic conversation should be a discussion, not a presentation. This means the person you are sharing with is certain to have pre-existing opinions, and these will lead to challenges and questions. Mark Mittelberg has done a good job of collecting typical questions and providing Biblical responses.

Most chapters take a key challenge (such as, "Why would God allow evil and suffering?" And, "How could a loving God send people to hell?"). You may have your own answers to such questions as there are good answers in God's Word, but if you are puzzled and are looking for answers in a well structured, very readable boo, Mark Mittelberg has done the hard work for you. (

Some helpful material here that would make for good discussion starters, but the arguments are lacking the depth they should have. It is not so much that I disliked it as it is that I expected more. (

While there are many more questions the ones in this book, the author has certainly identified the more common ones. It's tough answering questions like these because the answers aren't easy or necessarily what people want to hear. But the discussion in this book is solid enough to help someone who is asking with a teachable heart. (

NCLA Review - I really like this book. The writing is precise and the explanations are clear and well documented. Of equal importance, the author supplies the answers. Some of the questions explored are: “What makes you so sure that God exists at all?”, “Why do you condemn homosexuals?”, “Why should I trust the Bible—it’s full of myths?”, “Why is abortion such a line in the sand for Christians?” and “How could a good God allow so much suffering?” Each chapter also provides a subsection entitled “Evidence for the Answer” as well as tips for talking about the issue and questions for group discussion. This is a valuable book for any Christian. Rating: 4 —GD (
