The Bridal March follows Mildrid and Hans who meet out in the countryside while he is hunting a bear, and fall madly in love. But Mildrid's mother has unhappy connotations with weddings - she nearly didn't go through with her own - and can't even bear to hear the Bridal March played...
One Day is about the end of a dream. When pretty young Ella hears singer Aksel Aaro perform, she is moved to tears, and thinks he is singing for her. But she ends up marrying another, who turns out to be a nasty piece of work: 'he would break the neck of her conditions like a shrimp'. When Aaro returns and invites her out, she begins a truly magical day - even finding the first dandelions of the year fills her with delight of what is to come. But life doesn't always live up to expectations...
Not a particularly enthralling read. ( )
