The characters and the world that the author built makes me want to re-delve again. I read this story in HOURS, eating the words like fine cuisine. There's slavery, domination, hot m/m pairing, excellent scenes to be had. I totally recommend this story. I loved it. This is how I like my m/m stories written. ( ) As a soldier, Jaden is defeated in battle and witness to Dersai, Emperor of Tranaden, killing Jaden's fellow soldier with a single bare hand around his throat and his black eyes glittering with evil. Shortly after, Jaden is taken along with his 6 year-old sister to a slave auction where they are sold to different households. After years of abusive treatment by his mistress, Jaden suddenly finds himself owned by the feared enemy that ruined his life. Fear and hatred consume him and he looks for every opportunity to escape Tranaden and the demon he believe Emperor Dersai to be. So many emotions are dealt with in this story, and it is so well written that most readers will feel those emotions deeply. It's a story of one man's journey to finding love in the most unlikely of places - in the arms of his enemy. It includes one of the loveliest HEA epilogues I've read in a m/m story. reminding me a bit of Judith McNaught's historical romances. Highly recommended. An enjoyable read with lots of idtastic elements from slave auctions and harems to demon possession and Imperial Walkers. It's a great shame the original prologue -- http://www.jcowensauthor.net/?page_id=79 -- was dumped, as the relationship between Jaden and Dersai is far more fulfilling once the reader is witness to their first meeting. (Seriously, isn't that Romance Novel 101?) Zeige 5 von 5 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
