The choice before Andrew Miracle is to achieve worldly success with a manufactured persona or to be true to himself. ( ) Very interesting snapshot of the 90's Christian music industry. That was most definitely the best part of this book. Unfortunately, the characters were rather small and undeveloped. Andrew Miracle was too squeaky clean to be accessible. The setup of the girlfriend was awkwardly convenient. The one really compelling character was the manipulative and self-consumed manager, Van Grimes. Yet even he was less developed than I would have liked. Most disappointing was the prose itself. It had the sheen of editorial over-involvement. The dialogue and descriptions are more perfunctory rather than poetic. Perhaps I expected too much - as though Arvin would be a master like Wendell Berry. However, for anyone who grew up with Christian music and is fascinated by that industry/world, this book is an eye-opening and worthwhile read. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
