I finally picked up the next book. I read the last book and I really enjoyed it.

Plot: This story follows what happen after the last book. So I recommend that you read the first book. Vanessa is learning the truth behind her parents and her birth. The plot moves at a steady pace that gives the reader time to piece things together. There is plenty of drama created so the reader is always entertained if not by sirens then by secrets that Vanessa uncovers.

Love/Friendship: I’m so sad with the way it went down. In fact, I was so upset about their situation that I immediately bought the last book off of Amazon because I needed to know ASPA! I’m glad to inform you all that the book is in my hands and I do plan on finishing it soon.

Ending: The ending is bittersweet yet not the end. Many secrets are uncovered and more fights are to be fought. I know (and hope) that Vanessa can find the strength to fight back for what she lost.

Undercurrent is a great read that riles up the readers emotions. Be prepared to have your heart ripped out and stomped on. Strong and enjoyable, Undercurrent is great. ( )

The story still seems like it's missing parts but it's... mermaids. That says all. ( )

I absolutely loved Siren, but Undercurrent kind of blew my mind. The second installment in this powerful trilogy is ten times more dark, dramatic and intense, but still holds on to the beautiful terror and mystery that Siren introduced.

The pace is a bit slower in this one. In Siren, the story seemed to have a clear focal point. Vanessa and Simon knew what they were looking for and knew what they were doing. But in Undercurrent, things seem kind of blurred. It bothered me at first, I admit. But as I continued to read, I grew less and less bothered. Vanessa's struggle with being a siren, her frequent hallucinations of Zara and Raina, and the unraveling past of her biological mother are mysteries of their own. And they all come together for an intense and wicked ending that has me dying for the third book as soon as possible.

If I could only have one complaint about Undercurrent, it'd be the addition of Parker. I definitely understand the importance of his character and why he was necessary, but I think this is one series that could have done wonderfully without a love triangle. I might just be a tad bitter considering how much I'm Team Simon, but I couldn't help wishing that Parker would be the victim of a siren's attack at some point in the story. (I'm evil, I know)

Overall, Undercurrent is an explosive follow-up to Siren that kept me on the edge of my seat with every page that I turned. The sirens are back and angrier than ever and Vanessa's battle to keep not only them but her own siren, from harming others is one that will stun, entertain and scare you at the same time. If you're a fan of Siren, pick this one up ASAP!

UNDERCURRENT, by Tricia Rayburn, is the highly anticipated sequel in the Siren series. At this point, Vanessa is dealing with her new siren-status while hiding it from everyone she loves. Her physical need for salt water overwhelms her until she finds a dangerous solution that shakes up her relationship with Simon.

I really liked this book. It was a bit more low key and angsty then the first book but equally intriguing. I felt so bad for Vanessa having to keep her secret from everyone and still try to appear normal. The seed of doubt was planted in her mind that Simon only liked her because she was a siren. That and the long-distance relationship with Simon in college and Vanessa still in high school added to the problem.

The progression of this book was rather slow in the beginning as compared to the fast action in Siren, but when it picked up I could not put the book down. The previous year, Vanessa was involved with freezing the lake and (supposedly) all the bad sirens in it. But with strange glimpses of Zara around Vanessa's home made her think that they didn't kill them for good. Vanessa's detective work to find out what really happened to the sirens under the lake turned into a scary revelation that was a perfect culmination to the book.

Along with all of her problems, Vanessa is approached by ladies-man Parker. His infatuation with her awakens the siren inside and realizes that her thirst and physical ailments are at bay when he is around. One part of this love triangle that I really appreciated was the honesty that Rayburn created at the end. I'm not going to ruin it but, what happened between Vanessa and Simon was justified, even if it made me very sad.

Overall, this was a great addition to the series. A lot of revelations occurred and I felt Rayburn created a perfect platform for the third book. ( )
