Another good Gray Man novel by Greaney. Great series. ( )

Court Gentry is both the unluckiest bastard on the planet, and the luckiest. Seriously, dude can't seem to catch a break. Someone's always got a bullet ready with his name on it.

And Greaney seems to take sadistic glee in seeing exactly how far he can push his protagonist without actually killing him.

I really like this series a lot. ( )

Hilarious. Maybe not the most original - ticks all the cliches of a action B-movie (if you made a drinking game out of it you'd be several bottles down by the end of the book) - but it doesn't mess about when it comes to visceral action. It's so bad it's actually good. ( )

Ballistic Is the third book of The Gray Man series. It follows Court as He goes to Mexico to see his old buddy Eddie. Eddie was a former Navy, Former DEA agent, and Mexican police. When Court meets Eddie Gamboa's family he protests a cartel. After the leader of the cartel is injured he promises to kill Eddie's wife and unborn baby. After Eddie's wife is killed he will use the baby as a sacrifice to a Pagan Idol. When Court is tortured he promises to kill the leader of the cartel.

Court ends up bringing down the drug operation by slowly destroying each production facility. After increasing damages he plans how to kill the cartel leader. He also plans to save Eddie's little sister. after he does all of this he goes and continues his life. Court in this book turns out to be a feeling man. In the past, he is depicted of being soulless. Ballistic is Court's struggle for survival once again.

Book 3 in The Gray Man series. Court Gentry (The Gray Man) is trying to stay alive from both his crazy Russian former employer and the CIA hit order. He learns of the death of a former DEA agent Eddie Gamboa, a man who saved Court's life when both were thrown a Laotian prison.

Court goes to Mexico to pay his respects at Eddie's funeral and gets involved in saving Eddie's life. Eddie had been part of an special assassination team who died while attempting to kill a drug lord.

The depictions of Mexican drug culture and political corruption is well described as is the repeated condemnation of American drug consumers.

Mr. Greaney continues to illustrate the dangerous side of corporations (book 1), geopolitics (book 2) and illegal drugs (book 3). The action scenes are fiction but the background themes are set in reality. That is what makes this series a gritty and excellent read. ( )
