This is a children's picture book about six men who have the option to choose between war and peace. They get greedy and decide to start fighting with other people because they were worried they'd take the land they had been looking for and wanting. This is a really interesting look at the basic concepts of war. It talks about conflict and the choices you have and how these men choose war, and that it becomes a cycle that is hard to break. It would be an interesting story to use to explain war to children in a maybe a third grade classroom and for discussions about war. The illustrations are simple line drawings in ink, almost like doodles. They are black and white and that adds to the book because it keeps the focus on the concepts being talked about rather than the illustrations. ( )

This book is about 6 men who are on a journey to find a place to live. They were afraid that they were going to get robbed. The illistratons in this book are black and white so I found them boring but the story was ok. You could discuss in the classroom fear you have. You could also talk about what you think will happen next in the story and if the children think they will get robbed. ( )

A deep, ponderous, powerful story with fabulous line drawings about the cyclical futility of war. An outstanding book for discussion. ( )
