First, I have to say this was my favorite of the three by far and I really enjoyed the series. Having said that...errors, oh the errors!

And, Ms. Young, I know you're a Brit, so rather far removed from Mexico (but, not Spain, so maybe that isn't much of an excuse), but it's "cajones" not "cajonies"...really? Cajonies? Just a little Google could have cleared that one up for you.

*sigh*

I think, had she had good editing, I would have absolutely LOVED this series. I was very attached to Caia, Jaeden and Ryder...Lucien too, but not as much as the first three. I seriously loved the characters of Marion and Magnus as well. Vanne, Ruben and Saffron grew on me over the course of this book and by the end I was quite attached to them as well. And I totally appreciated her pulling it together for me, because if Marion was really dead I would not have like the series near as well.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good love story buried in some serious butt kicking and super powers...plus I love seeing new takes on the old vamp/wolf myth. Young throws in some Greek Mythology as well. It was fun. ( )

What a lovely end to this great series! After reading the second book I immediately started the last one in this captivating series. I was really glad that I didn’t have to wait a couple of months till it came out. I’ve experienced a lot with this book, I’ve laughed, but also cried (although the crying was mostly because of clogged tear ducts due to a cold ;) ). It’s such a touching book!

Caia rocked, again! Despite all the setbacks, she faced everything head on, of course with the help of her increasing circle of friends. It was interesting to finally know why the war started, although I wouldn’t have dreamed that it was because of one women. Wich reminded me a lot of Troy, especially with all the names that were used ;)

Lucien really has trust issues. After everything that he and Caia have been through, shouldn’t he trust her a little by now? Nooo, of course not! I really could strangle him now and then. Besides his trust issues he also seems to be a bit blind when it comes to women who like him, especially if it’s an ex. Therefore no sympathy for him in this book: his actions have hurt Caia, once again. I really admire her for always forgiving him, of course after she ignores him for a while ;)

I found it less exciting to read about Jeaden. After a couple of difficult events, she completely succumbs to her hatred. Completely understandable, given what happened, but to involve others? I really couldn’t stand her when she shuns Ryder, who loves her and had to cope with it some difficulties. Fortunately he sees what she’s doing and helps her. Thank god for his insight in the female mind, why doesn’t Lucien have this?

Okay enough with the complaining, apart from these minor annoyances the story was great, therefore 4 hearts. A great ending for a great series! Although I’m glad that the ending hinted at another sequel, in the form of a spin-off series! I’ll look forward to another dive in this exciting world. Unfortunately I have to wait till next year :( ( )

Blood Solstice
(The Tale of Lunarmorte, Book #3)
by Samantha Young

Genre: Paranormal Romance | Young-Adult

In the final installment of the Tale of Lunarmorte, Caia is caught between the most powerful beings in her world desperate to use her for their own means. Struggling to find her purpose, Caia's time runs out when tragedy strikes close to home. Now she must decide if she will join the extremists she was trying to destroy... or bring them all down on her own terms...

The last we know of Caia is that she has suddenly disappeared from the Errante pack's territory after discovering some shocking secrets and narrowly escaping the Daylight coven headquarters in Paris. Now the hunt is on to find out her whereabouts while unearthing who exactly can be trusted within the covens and keeping as many of the pack members alive in a war that has gotten a little too close to home. Yet, Caia's keeper is an even bigger surprise, especially when they have been a part of the supernatural battle since the very beginning.

Book #3 in the series had a lot more action and bloody warfare throughout. Since, the war spread dramatically and only a few people remained in power, a select group of supernaturals stepped up as leader/s to stay under the radar in hopes of bringing down the "enemy." Unfortunately, there were quite a few tragic deaths, but just as many emotional revelations that balanced out the tone of the story. Expect some great character development as trough decisions were finally made in regards to battle strategies and where loyalties lie, but overall a satisfying conclusion to The Tale of Lunarmorte trilogy.

Likes: The historical flashbacks that predated the war were fascinating and really eye-opening.

Dislikes: There was almost too much drama around Lucien and Caia's relationship struggles, (mainly dishonesty and mistrust) that in the end, their dysfunctional bond just put a damper on the whole romantic part the story. ( )
