Douglas (read 8 Jun 1946) There was a lot of things going on in my life when I read this in June of 1946 (I graduated from high school on May 17, 1946, and was thinking about where i would go to college and what my life would be) and the only comment re the book was on June 8 when I wrote this succinct comment: "Finished D. First published in 1939. I really like this author. His books are all based on Christian goodwill to all men but in the real world. Dr Beaven looks up to Tubby, his medical tutor and tries to live a life dedicated to learning and researching. And then he falls in love.
I did enjoy the book but I was trying to get through it at the end because I've got lots of other books from Ebay which I wanted to read. I wish I'd savoured it more. ( )
