There was drama, loss, new friends, and old ones brought in. Some of the questions you may have had in Collide are answered in Uprising. I think the book could have been a little shorter and still conveyed the story well. I liked that there was more drama in this installment. The first book seemed to be all lovey dovey and constant peace. Some characters in Uprising shake up that harmony, and I love it. I enjoyed seeing things play out in other characters' perspective. The other povs didn't read like a diary either. That was a problem I had in Collide with Merrick's viewpoint. We get a little more information about the Lighters and the Taker. There are some developments that look to be very promising. I'm excited to see what this thrown together family is up against in Catalyst. I really do love the book being packed full of characters, but I did have some difficulty keeping track of who was who this time around. I barely remembered Lillian being married and that her husband's name was Michael.
So many males are being shuffled in to the bunker but hardly any females. The male to female ratio is drastically unbalanced. I guess Crane wants the focus on Sherry and Merrick but I feel bad for the males who seem to want someone in their life. Especially Ryan, he hasn't voiced the need for companionship but he feels like something is missing and he can't seem to put his finger on it and I just know that it was love that's missing.
In Uprising we hear from the point of view of three more folks, in addition to Sherry and Merrick. I could have done without hearing from the Taker, don't care what that sociopath is thinking. Love hearing from Cain and I was immediately on Team Cain. I so wanted things to go well for him, especially in the love department. Finally Sherry had a new guy in her life that wasn't a jerk. He had a really good effect on Merrick, teaching him sarcasm and how to joke, I liked hearing from Merrick even more and his banter between him and Cain was very entertaining.
I enjoyed Uprising possibly even more than Collide. ( )
