The first is the “how to” category. While, it does not give specific step-by-step instructions on how to cope with your own ASD or a loved one’s, it does provide helpful “how to” advice to those managing their own ASD or those who’s loved one is. I would say it is more of a self-help book. The second is the “survey” category. Additionally, the book has a great deal of information regarding what an ASD is and what it looks like to those around you. However, there is no specific information about specific ASDs. The ASD’s are discussed in general and in a broad sense. If someone wanted to know specifics about any one disorder, he/she would need to go to a more specialized book. From my understanding, ASD is a broad umbrella encompassing many different disorders. But again, I think, this could be a good introductory book. Each chapter begins with a fictional story surrounding a boy named Jack, who has an ASD. These stories put Jack in situations that, not only, affect him, but also the people in his life. For example, his sister, friends, his mother, and teachers. Each chapter ends with an “Ask Yourself This” section, where the individual reading could answer questions regarding the chapter.
