I thought the circumstances behind it worked here. Pippa is a strong, independent woman. She owns and catering business she's looking to expand and she isn't looking for a relationship. Cam has had a thing for Pippa for ages, but he has no intention of acting on it. He's already loved and lost, and he has no desire to do so again. But after what's supposed to be a one night stand, Cam realizes the condom has broken. He doesn't really want a wife, but he wants Pippa safe and cares for if she's pregnant, so he offers marriage....and is shocked when she refuses. Pippa wants more than a cold, loveless marriage just because she got pregnant. And she's pretty sure she can never have that with Cam. Or can she? I liked that Cam was the one who realized there was a chance of pregnancy. It was a nice change from the usual. Cam has baggage he doesn't want to deal with, which is hard on any type of relationship they might have. He's determined to keep Pippa at arms length, but finds it hard to be away from her. This means he's putting put mixed signals which confuse her. I don't blame her. He was all over the place. But the glimpses of him without the shadow of his past hanging over him made him a likable character. Pippa was also a likable character. I was glad she didn't let Cam railroad her into a relationship just because of the baby. It was good to see her holding out for more, instead of accepting whatever crumbs he'd give her. I was somewhat bothered by her reaction to his past. I understood why she felt the way she did, and even applauded her for standing her ground, yet I wanted to see a bit more compassion and understanding. She came off as selfish on one level, which I don't think was the intention of the author. That aside I thought this was an angsty, emotional story. This is the last book in the Harlequin Desire Pregnancy and Passion series. Cam is the final man to fall and his story is very different from that of his friends. Cam’s heart is frozen from a past loss and he is much more sympathetic than the other three. But Ms. Banks still delivers a hot and sexy love story. There is plenty of conflict, angst and ‘foot in the mouth’ moments. I loved Pippa from her intro in the preceding book. She’s independent, sassy and yet fragile in a way. Together, Cam and Pippa are combustible. Their chemistry is great and the dialogue, snappy and entertaining. It was easy to ‘hate’ the heroes in the three prior books; they were first class jerks in the beginning. But Cam was different. Pippa is much like the other women in the preceding stories, strong but vulnerable. It felt natural to fall in love with both of them. Pippa’s insistence that she deserved better was so in line with her character and Cam’s anguish over his lost wife and son was so real. Parts of the story were very intense. It was also enjoyable to revisit Devon and Ashley. Although this is not my favorite of the four books; it was a very satisfying conclusion to a fun and sexy series. Start at the beginning and you’ll be glad you did. ~TRS for ARe Cafe ABOUT THE BOOK: Just one night? Yeah, right. Pippa Laingley should have known better. When an unplanned evening of passion with Cameron Hollingsworth results in unplanned pregnancy, she's at a crossroads. She knew going in that the enigmatic entrepreneur had built a fortress around his feelings. What she's just discovered is that he's loved and lost before—wife and child. Tragically. Now Cam stands to lose it all again. If he lets Pippa get too close. If he pushes her away with loveless arrangements of financial support. Either way, he's doomed…unless he can let himself love again. THE REVIEW: Ms. Banks amazes me every…single…time. She has an ability to choose any topic and draw me in. Hell, she could be talking about the Periodic Table of Elements and I’d follow each one of her words as if they were water and I was on a stranded island. This book gripped me right away and drew me in to the drama. The beginning throws us right into the problem and it made sense to do it that way. Ms. Banks has a way about her writing that is smooth and again, gripping. Her scenes flowed well from one to the next and I sat there reading, falling in love with Pippa and Cameron as we went. Pippa is just the right female for a broken hearted Cameron and it sure takes him awhile to realize that. But it’s what makes the story THAT good. There was one point in the book that I felt tears prickling behind my lids – and that speaks for the author herself and just how well she writes. This is number four in her series but it won’t be the only book I’ll read – I’m definitely picking up the other three now that I’ve read this great book. Five out of five stars for a job well done. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Cam sabía que iba a sufrir si dejaba que Pippa entrase en su vida y también si la apartaba de su lado ofreciéndole simple apoyo económico. En cualquier caso, estaba condenado… a menos que se permitiera amar otra vez.
