Then they moved back to the 70s for some of the classic Marv Wolfman/Gene Colan run on Tomb of Dracula which was, as another reviewer put it, pure cheese. And I've never been Colan's biggest fan, but I admit he does bring something to the comic.
Having said that, I've forgotten how much things had to be repeated month after month, the same characters saying the same things over and over and over again, because the story was chunked out over a one or two month span.
So, the back up classic story? Enh, it was okay. Silly in the way most 70s Marvel was silly. My younger, teenaged self absolutely ate that stuff up, and begged for more. The older, pre-senior self that I am now can remember that, but tends to smirk at it nonetheless. ( )
