The last thing Colin McDowell wants is to inherit his Aunt Geraldine's mansion in the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington. As the pack leader of the Trevelyans in Scotland, he has little time to travel halfway around the world to take care of his inheritance. But the trip takes a pleasant turn when he meets Luna Reynaud, the young secretary his aunt hired shortly before she died. He isn't sure which surprises him more-Luna's clever plan for turning the mansion into a resort, or the fact that she's drop-dead gorgeous. Both intrigue him-until he learns that Luna is only a half-breed. There's no way a pack leader can mate with a woman who's partly human . . . or is there?… (mehr)

Finally got my Kindle back! And it was worth it. This book did not go at all the way I expected it to, which impresses me. It defied convention at every step. Luna is a delightful heroine with staggering courage and strength. Colin is a great hero for her, but she is fully capable of standing on her own and succeeding. The villainy of the villain really got to me; I just wanted to smack him! Without spoiling, this is a great read, and the next book, about our hero's brother, looks just as good. This is a fun series that is not a slave to conventions. ( )

The product of a werewolf father and a human mother, it wasn't until puberty that the heroine realized what she was. As such, there was no one to teach her what to expect and she endured the frightening change on her own. Now, she's involved herself in the running of a grand household, surrounded by other female werewolves yet completely ignorant of the male sex. When her employer dies and her grandson takes up ownership of the island, she knows she must convince him to let her turn his grandmothers home into a retreat, it's the only way to save her job and the jobs of the older women on site. When she meets the hero, she's immediately and latterly struck mute by his beauty. She's never before seen anything quite like him before. The hero has responsibilities and despite the guilt he feels over the distance he put between him and his grandmother, he knows he can't stay in Seattle. But the heroine is making things extremely difficult for him. He agrees to her plans to turn the island into a hotel because he does think it'll make a profit, but also because it will allow him to spend what little time he has with her. And the idea makes her happy and something about her easy and innocent demeanor makes him want to see her smile. So from this point on the plot line which I quite enjoyed at first takes a series nose dive into stupidity. Basically...there is no plot. The characters freak like rabbits at every possible opportunity with zero passion and with both of them talking nonsense for the duration. The sex scenes, for being so frequent, were too light hearted and PG to be anywhere near interesting. I also had no connection to either the hero or the heroine as characters. The heroine I thought did a complete 180, going from a girl who was no innocent of sex that she didn't know how to kiss to being the sex crazed manic who latterly begs the hero for some dick. I thought the hero was dull and lifeless with a personally that was far too easy going. Neither of them had any depth or and dark to the light and airy tone of the whole story. I was quite disappointed with this book as the first novel I read in the series was very good and I thought I had a sure winner here but no such luck. ( )

Kind of like a Harlequin, light and fluffy and easy to read and not hard to follow - candy. The one in Denver follows the previous in the series of first the elder brother than the younger brother's story. ( )

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first or second book. There were several amusing moments because of Luna's weird sex questions, but I just didn't feel as good about this story as the last. I also didn't believe the mad-to-sad emotional response of the villain, George, in this story. ( )
