I love frogs so I decided to read this book. It is a series book and most series books follow a formula that doesn't always work for every topic. This book had beautiful illustrations of frogs in and out of their natural habitats. There were several facts about frogs that were very surprising to your average young reader. If you are interested in learning simple frog facts this is a good book. If you want more in depth information you will have to "hop" a little further along. ( ) This book on frogs is well written. The wording of this book makes it easy to read and interesting for students. There are many pictures of the different frogs and their names. Other pictures demonstrate the concepts discussed in the book. The book discuss the sound, skin, eyes, feet, tongues, camouflages, life cycle, and population of frogs. Every student will be surprise to learn that there is a frog that eats birds! There is also a hide and seek picture in the section that speaks about the frogs camouflage; the reader is asked to find the hidden frogs (the answers are on the last page of the book). This book for 3rd to 5th graders is a part of the Strange and wonderful series. It is a good book to use when teaching the life cycle of a frog or characteristics of frogs like their habitats and what they eat. It mentions endangered frogs and extinct frogs. This nonfiction picture books has lots of detailed illustrations and interesting facts. I will recommend the book for te 2nd grade teachers at my school when they are teaching habatits. The book can als be used for researcing an animal and writing a report. It can also be used to gather important facts to make graphic aids such as tables and diagrams. Zeige 3 von 3
Frog facts are presented in this vividly illustrated book. This book focuses on the large variety within the species. This book is full of information on everything from what frogs eat to how they move and mate. Consultants included professors and curators of biology and herpetology from respected institutions. Budding scientists will appreciate the level of detail. Meryl Henderson’s watercolors depict information that would be difficult to photograph. For example, frog eggs, rare frogs, and frog development from tadpole to adult. An activity challenging readers to locate the hidden frogs in the picture is a great way to interact with the material. A few pages discuss the environmental situations that have threatened frog populations throughout the world. In addition, the author includes some personal anecdotes about his passion for frogs and some resources for conservation. Overall, this book is a good addition to a science collection. School libraries should consider adding this to their collection. Bemerkenswerte Listen
