Don't get your hopes up when you see the near 4.4 star rating and gushing reviews. It is puzzling how this book, in all its plot-holey-gramatically-errored glory, can elicit such a positive response from the majority of readers.

Honestly? I don't see what all the fuss is about. What is in this book that appeals to so many people?

What pestered me out of all of the flaws of Reckoning was the sudden change of Maggie, the main character in this book. In the first book, she is weak, depending on Eran for protection. This is also the case in book 2, except her action at the end, an attempt to save the world. In this book, she makes the not-so-subtle and unbelievable shifting from a "weak" to a "strong" heroine. Frankly, I find this very unrealistic; I feel like the author did this to show her strength and bad-assery, when, in reality, it just felt forced and fake.

Some may think the redeeming quality of this book is the romance. No, no, no. The romance between Eran and Maggie is... icky. Barf-worthy. Not gross in the sense you think, but gross in a way that was full of kissing during random and innappropriate moments and the overusage of the term "I love you" in all its variations. Cute is the last word I would use to describe their relationship.

As a final book in the series, Reckoning did a rather poor job of tying things together. It would have been very difficult to write a solid conclusion, since the first two books were very bad.

Most of the time, I had no idea what the characters were talking about. I felt like something was missing , some crucial element of the plot the author failed to mention that caused my constant confusion. In all honesty, the actual plot wasn't very good to begin with, so even if the author somehow managed to write a perfect book, I still wouldn't have been very interested.

This book had the same glaring flaws present in the first two installments. It did not improve, and if it did, only very minimally. Like the writing, for example. Compared to Fallen, there is noticable improvement, but it is still a pain to read.

Should I address the beyond cheesy Epilogue? Considering the fact I don't like Eran, like, at all, it wasn't a pleasure to read. I love HEA, but this book butchers the phrase and takes HEA to another level.

But don't make me stop you from reading this book. If you enjoy cliche, overused storylines that make little sense and pay no heed to offering explanations, then go for it.
