She never wanted marriage.... When a friend is forced to consider a marriage of convenience, Lady Amelia Staunton is determined to rescue her. But her plans trap her in an illicit seduction, and Amelia must marry him herself. Malcolm's all-consuming kisses and devilish humor might make up for her lost freedom, but she believes he will force her to abandon the Gothic romances she yearns to write. Since she can't escape him, she must distract him from her secret. He isn't looking for love.... A powerful autocrat with a well-hidden rebellious streak, Malcolm MacCabe doesn't need another beautiful mistress - he needs an obedient wife. Obedience is not one of Amelia's virtues. But he's too enthralled by her wit and passion to let her go - even if it means risking the political reputation he is building to save his clan. Their hearts can't survive the scandal... Despite their intentions, every wicked embrace binds them together. But as their conflicting desires combust into insatiable hunger and unavoidable ruin, they must decide whether to pursue their personal destinies alone - or fight for the love that could destroy them both.… (mehr)

The only book with no whispersync in the series.

It is a shame there is no whispersync in this book, like the rest of the series. Otherwise, the plot continues enough from the other books to make it useful to read the books in order, but not eniugh that you can't read it alone. ( )

Ramsey's titles are cute and her ideas are good, but her writing could use a bit more polish. Honestly, for most of the book I was tempted to give it 2 stars--there is a lot more telling instead of showing, and the characters really felt wooden throughout a lot of it. I wasn't even sure they were as invested in their own story as I was, and I spent more time than usual while reading checking just how far I was in the book! The last third or so got better, though, and overall it left me with a more positive impression in the end than I would have thought possible given the first half. I'm willing to give the first book a try, because this one referred back to its events enough that I do want to see what exactly happened in Madeline and Ferguson's story, and of course we get just enough of a teaser here of Ellie's story in book three so that I'll probably pick that one up too, if given the chance. Scotsmen Prefer Blondes is the second book in the Muses of Mayfair series. The series is about a group of women who live in the Regency Era. They all posses talents in the arts that would be considered scandalous and ruin their reputations if word ever got out about it. Lady Amelia Staunton is an author. She writes under a pseudonym but enjoys it tremendously. She has no desire to be married. In fact she's called The Unconquered by her peers. Lady Amelia travels to Scotland with her dear friend, Prudence. They are there to meet Malcolm, a possible match for Prudence. At first glance, Malcolm is instantly attracted to Lady Amelia. However, she doesn't want anything to do with him. She tries to scheme to get Malcolm and Prue together, but it backfires causing all sorts of backlash.
The Muses of Mayfair series is enjoyable. I love the characters. Lady Amelia is very beautiful and talented. She's got a lot of spunk but her schemes always seem to cause more problems than she can handle. Malcolm is every girls fantasy. He's torn by duty and love. He wants Amelia desperately but his duty to his country and his people drive him. Their relationship is a complicated one. Nevertheless, they have quite a bit of spark between them.
Scotsmen Prefer Blondes is an excellent read. It's has humor, scandal, and fire. The characters are endearing and you want them to succeed in life and love. This is becoming one of my favorite series. I can't wait for the next book! ( )

Amelia Staunton travels to Scotland with her friend Prudence. There they meet Laird Malcolm MacCabe. It is known that Prudence will soon be Malcolm's bride, but Malcolm is much more interested in Amelia. To her absolute frustration Amelia likes him too. The situation causes all sorts of complications.

Amelia is a wonderfully strong character, the kind I like reading about in regency books. I love the fact that Ms. Ramsey made her a writer, something that is secret and a complication. But a brilliant part of the story. Compared to Prudence, Amelia is overflowing with passion and charm. Malcolm is almost instantly enthralled with her. I loved watching the relationship blossom.

Scotsmen Prefer Blondes is an excellent read. It really surprised me. I wasn't sure I was gonna like it, but I ended up love it. Amelia and Malcolm are great characters. Their story is sensuous and heartwarming. Historical fans will want to add this one to their list. ( )

I reviewed this novel for my blog at www.bookworm2bookworm.wordpress.com

The blurb above summarizes the story well, and rather than going into it, I'll tell you why I liked this story.

First, you don't need to read the first novel to enjoy this story, but the dynamic between the muses, their heroes and the story in itself will be more exciting if you do. Let me tell you, I wasn't a big fan of Amelia's in Madeline's story, but by the end of it, I loved her tenaciousness and honesty, and you will too.

Ms. Ramsey continues to impress me with her portrayal of the friendship of her muses. These women seem real because of that. Their feelings toward each other are honest and at times contentious, but deep down their respect and love of each other and their passion for their art is something that will always keep their friendships strong.

Malcolm is a hero to die for! He's a strong, smart and ambitious man full of wit that would be a God-given gift to any london season `mama', yet Amelia is full of doubts as she struggles with her feelings for him. It was fun to watch these two very strong-minded people fight the atraction and in the end succumbing to it.
If you're in a mood for a fun and entertaining, sensual and romantic story of two very strong characters who will take you on their fast paced HEA, this story is just the ticket!
